charlie1210 39 Posted March 23, 2016 Background The 20th Armoured Infantry Brigade was founded in November of 2015 by friends without sufficient time or hardware enough to fully commit to a proper MilSim unit- but still want to play professionally as a part of a team. Mission Our current aim is to provide a professional unit that realistically recreates the role of British Armoured Infantry. In this role, the FV510 WARRIOR sees use within the section for the infantry to fight with and out of. We are also well versed in dismounted infantry tactics for varied operations, and for operations with other units where the use of Warrior wouldn't be necessary. Our overall goal is to provide a unit which uses realistic British SOP's as best as possible, whilst also having fun and banter. Who We're Looking For We are looking for people who are motivated to create a unique MilSim experience. Since we aim to recreate a realistic representation of the British Army, we'd love to find personnel with previous military experience, with experience using WARRIOR and Armoured Infantry, and those with leadership and management experience. As it is, we currently have a fair amount of members who are current or former service members of the British, US, Danish, and Croatian Armed Forces, including members who have served within the actual 20th AIB itself. If you would like to advise or help out, please give us a shout, and we will do our best to accomodate you! We're also looking for modders to help with the creation of realistic in-game variants of the FV510, FV103, FV107, and AS90. We are indeed willing to donate to those willing to help. If you'd like to join a MilSim unit, but do not have the time for regular attendance, consider checking us out. We offer a reserves programme which accommodates your availability once you've completed your training. Things to Note Regular trainings are on Wednesdays and Operations are on Saturdays, both at 1900 UK time, unless we are doing special events or joint operations. We are looking for people aged 16 and up, especially those with prior military or cadets experience Please do not ask us to merge with your unit. We will not accept any offers. We are open to joint operations provided you use ACRE2 and allow joint training to be conducted beforehand. We do not have Sodexo Catering or friday afternoon weapons cleaning, and when you finish your CIC we give you a virtual daysack (which also works at night). We are a Military Simulation unit. We do our best to implement tactics and SOP's that are in use within the British Army. As such, we have a strenuous training programme and qualifications to be earned, and we expect a certain level of maturity and discipline from our members. We do not, however, require members to address each other by rank or act a certain way outside of the game. charlie1210 39 Posted May 29, 2016 New Website We've opened up a website now, meaning we no longer rely on steam to communicate unit events. This can be found here. Upcoming Campaign Beginning 4 JUNE 2016, we will begin our first, albeit small, campaign starting on Reshmaan Province. This operation will see us providing the light infantry role for a COIN mission. Pre-deployment training is currently underway led by our training team. General Updates As we draw closer to our normal activation date, we've been preparing our server and modpack for what we'll be needing. We've nearly completed all training courses, and will be starting them mid-June. If all goes well, we wil begin Mid-July. We've also been busy creating in-house mods to suit our various needs. charlie1210 39 Posted June 21, 2016 OP ALKEKENGI I As of 4 JUNE 2016, elements of the 20th AIB as apart of the 1 Scots Guards Battle Group, have been conducting COIN operations in the Reshmaan Province AOR. Although met with steady resistance, 1 Platoon have been successful with our current mission. General Updates With selective recruitment still underway, we welcome Gdsmn Saltmarsh and Muir into the unit, bringing with them valuable cadets and forces experience. charlie1210 39 Posted July 30, 2017 Rolling Thunder 22 We recently participated in the Rolling Thunder armoured PvP, bringing 2 tanks to BLUFOR. Even though the Russians annihilated our team, we excelled as a crew and troop! We participate in many community events, and will be back and ready for Rolling Thunder 23 this winter! Joint Operations We have recently begun training to prepare for a joint operation with the 51st Infantry Brigade. EX HIGHLAND SWORD will commence on the 11th July to assess our skills and cohesiveness before we deploy as a joint battle group. FV510 Warrior After a year of work and much frustration, we have finally released a version of our FV510 Warrior edit to the public. She's a beauty! In the next few weeks we will begin a campaign on Tanoa! Joint Operations We have recently conducted low level joint operations with the 51st Infantry Brigade and the 12th Armoured Infantry Brigade, and a possible joint campaign with the First Fusiliers is on the horizon. Our main effort is to provide armour support using the FV510 Warrior and FV432/3 Bulldog. charlie1210 39 Posted July 15, 2018 2 Sections! We have opened our 2nd Section under 1 Platoon, and are making accomodations for a third. This addition to the unit is allowing us to open... Queen's Royal Hussars/Royal Wessex Yeomanru Now that we have 2 infantry sections, preparations are being made to open up C Squadron, Queen's Royal Hussars, along with the RWxY as their reserves counterpart. This Troop will be operating the FV4034 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank alongside 1 Platoon, as well as operating FV510 Warriors in the reconnaissance role. Training on the CR2 is underway, using our own in-house modification of Burnes' CR2 TES, and is being spearheaded by actual serving members of the QRH. Members looking to join the QRH will need to first serve 6 weeks minimum in the RIFLES platoon, as all available roles are currently taken! Home Rotation After 6 weeks of OP MARATHON I, the 20th AIB have returned to the Hebontes Military Training Facility in order to conduct Counter Insurgency training, before we deploy on operations to Zargabad. Joint Operations In the background, preparations are being made to conduct joint ops with the vPzBrig 21, our German Army counterparts, the 51st Infantry Brigade, and later the 1 RRF MilSim Unit. charlie1210 39 Posted June 28, 2019 ROLLING THUNDER #27 We recently parook in BDR Clan's Rolling Thunder #27, a massive armoured PvP. We provided 2 tanks towards REDFOR's 2 Platoon, and ended up with 13 confirmed kills of enemy tanks across the 3-tank platoon. It was a very intense battle and well fought by ourselves and our sister unit, the vPzBrig 21. We have recently welcomed many new members into the unit - most of whom have put in great effort and completed our CIC. We also bring forth a newly designed website! We have conducted a short platoon-level training rotation, and now we are continuing OP TRACTOR on Malden 2035. We are now 50% done with this operational tour! As we continue on, we are preparing to conduct joint operations with the 51st Infantry Brigade MilSim unit, as well as the virtuelle Panzerbrigade 21, providing our unique Armoured Infantry skills with the use of our own in-house warrior mod! charlie1210 39 Posted April 6, 2020 OP PANTHER We have recently participated in OP PANTHER, our codename for a series of operations hosted by the virtual 21st Panzer Brigade - alongside the 402nd Panzergrenadier Battalion, National Defense Force, and The Tactical Network. Our next event is on 9 May where we provide a British Armoured Infantry Platoon to the combined UK-DE company! Here are some pics from our latest events: Fire Team Commander's Course Over the last 6 weeks we conducted our first Fire Team Commander's Course of 2020. 6 Riflemen started the course; only 2 Riflemen made it through the end and earnt their promotion to Lance Corporal! Congrats to LCpls Hughes and Orange! We will soon be deploying to Tanoa on ops within the next few weeks. We are also conducting a healthy amount of Combined Arms Warfare training in preparation for the next mission on OP PANTHER! That's all for now folks! Check it out here: AFUK Vehicles OP PANTHER IV On 20 JUNE, we will continue our campaign alongside the virtuele Panzerbrigade 21, where we pull out the FV510 warriors and try to gain ground lost during the previous event. The Future Due to COVID and other circumstances, we will be taking a break from events after OP PANTHER IV. We will downsize and re-configure the units as well as close recruitment.
