Place pavement along roads

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was wondering if there was a way to place pavement beside all the roads on the map.

Is there a more simple way than just simply going into TB, placing & rotating them accordingly manually?

I thought perhaps Terrain Processor could accomplish this kind of task, but I've searched everywhere and checked the task types on my own, but I didn't find anything.

I'd appreciate all help, thanks!

Personally i use MapBuilder but xCam will also do it, try both and use what suits your needs.

Paths are a PITA though, good luck.

MB will work but using pitch/bank will be a problem as the TB import is kinda broken regarding orientation.

Thanks for the replies!

I'm trying right now to figure out how to do it in Map Builder.

I used XCam earlier and couldn't figure out how to do it..

The only way to do it is place them by hand in xcam or mapbuilder. But as NeoArmageddon said once you import them into TB they can end up sunk or in the air. I find the best one to use is the CUP 2 Sidewalks, the ones at the top of the list in xcam have small, large and corner bits.

If you don't mind there not being a kerb, you could make them as a road and place them as a shape, but it would look abit strange...

I may have some time on the weekend to find a good solution for this (as I am in need of pavements myself ;) )

That would be great! I've done 1257 so far, but I'm no where finished the town yet. The pavements make everything slow down, especially when you have hilly ground like my map.

I've just started to place them manually on XCam.

It certainly takes a while for me to make the pavements look accurate and good to watch, one way I'm doing this is through adjusting the height, position & rotation of the pavements to prevent black lines from appearing in-between them.

I'm looking forwards to see your solution to this nuisance, NeoArmageddon.

@RoF If you're talking about the A2 side-walks then I'm using those right now (got them from an ALDP, rather than CUP, but I guess it's the same?)

Just remember once you import them into TB some will get moved, so don't worry about getting them dead on perfect

Jump on Twitch and look for Ausisland channel. I've layed 1000's of them on Australia, I can show u an easy way to do it :) using Xcam and some little tips to make sure they line up correctly.

Hey,

I watched a couple of your stream VODs and I saw that you had perfectly straight roads.

My question is; how do I accomplish this? How do I make my roads straight?

All my roads in the terrain are curved (all roads are bundled up in 1 .shp file). If they weren't so curved it would save me so much hassle!

The thing is your towns tend to be flat, so its easy to just copy in xcam. But if your on hills you can kinda get them lined up right with slope in xcam, but when you import to TB it tends to ignore what your done (as it hates people using it lol) and sink or rise them in the air.
