a1994114a 10 Posted December 30, 2015 Hi folks, I really want to play modern air combat games with F/a-18 vs Su-35. Especially pvp. Are there any servers for that ?
semiconductor 309 Posted December 30, 2015 I don't think so. You have chosen a wrong game for that.
pulstar 55 Posted December 31, 2015 I don't want to advertise another sim here, but it's the de facto these days. The craft you seek are in Flaming Cliffs 3, and the F/A18 should come out next year.

I just hope someone can host a server using those mods. That dcs game you mentioned requires joy-stick but I'm not good at using it. :( Arma 3 players can fly with a mouse. That's why I like flying in arma 3.
semiconductor 309 Posted December 31, 2015 I believe Pulstar was talking about "Flaming Cliffs" DLC for Digital Combat Simulator. Anyway, there is no point in full-scale air combat in Arma, the game is simply not designed with it in mind. Planes in this game serve only two purposes: close air support and transportation. semiconductor 309 Posted December 31, 2015 Yeah, I like playing as infantryman in an infantry simulator. How did you know that, are you a wizard? :D

If you really want maximum enjoyment I suggest learning how to fly using a joystick. It's not really hard and online tutorials are available, and besides you need to learn how to evade missiles more than dogfighting in 3rd and 4th gen fighters since pilots engage beyond-visual range. Before youtube and DCS (formerly LockOn) I learned some manoeuvres using Sega's Aerodancing series. Really deep for a console franchise!!

Of course I know how to use a joy-stick. Limit is not on me. Limit is on the hardware. That joy-stick will never have the same precision my mouse has. That joy-stick will never have the same precision my mouse has. Depends on what you need precision for. In a spaceshooter like Freelancer you need a mouse typically, but to control a fighter jet, most joysticks with reasonable deadzones work, even for bullseye dogfighting. silentghoust 132 Posted January 2, 2016 I tried, but sadly they don't work well with rest of the arma 3 assets. One jet can essentially do the work of 2 vanilla CAS craft, and outperform them on every statistic. Honestly I was hopping the modder would release a toned down version more in line with the other arma 3 aircraft.

If there is balance, there wouldn't be a war.

Because your request is the same attitude modders often use. They simply want the asset in the game, with little thought on balance, optimization, ect. Again it's not a bad thing as it brings a lot of cool stuff with Arma 3. But if it doesn't play well with other parts of the game, what is the point of it besides playing around for a hour and saying "cool". If I wanted to play shooting gallery missions were I just blow up AI who can't really fight back, I could do that in single player. If you want a PvP thing, you can easily host that on a cheap server or even spare PC for a 2-4 players.
YanYatCheng 96 Posted January 20, 2016 I've been studying dogfight for 4 years and flying for 6 years, you can hit me up if you want to do dofight 1v1s and practice. btw, the new RHS jet are a piece of.... you know it.... bad flight model Firewill's jet are the best for dogfight, they don't turn that unrealistic and have a good weapon system developed.
