SpaceAlex 0 Posted October 1, 2002 I have a big problem. Mi-17, Mi-24 and some other sounds sound like a bad quality sounds. It's most noticable when i start the engine. Not to meantion the static noise. I just can't stand this anymore. I'm tired of this. I know people have problems with static noise, but i never heard someone complaining about strange sounds with some vehicles. That's why i'm posting this. I tried everything. I can't find any good drivers. I would really need some help here. I really tried everyting. I have Creative Audigy with the latest drivers (they work good on my computer, just not with OFP)
Mister Frag 0 Posted October 1, 2002 Make sure that your sound card and AGP card aren't in adjacent slots, because on many motherboards, they share IRQs. I also found that if I ask too much of my graphics card (1600x1200x32, FSAA, AF etc.), not only does the frame rate suffer, but the audio quality as well. You may want to experiment with a lower screen resolution to see if that helps.
SpaceAlex 0 Posted October 1, 2002 I already tried that. It doesn't help. I'm pretty sure that there's a problem with the drivers.
bn880 5 Posted October 1, 2002 You sure you don't have any EAX effects on? I remember having problems similar to yours (graphics engine would make sounds through Creative card)... I think it was solved by moving the cards around. (IRQ's had alot to do with it) This was before XP. What's with your Avatar?
SpaceAlex 0 Posted October 2, 2002 Yes, i tried everything. Can u guys tell me what kinda drivers are really the best for this card. I tried almost every driver out there, but maybe you guys have a driver that works fine.
Mister Frag 0 Posted October 2, 2002 I have a Live! card, but the drivers I used are for both the Live! and Audigy series. I downloaded them from Compaq's FTP site: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp21501-22000/SP21636.exe The latest official drivers from Creative are V.
DanAK47 1 Posted October 4, 2002 I'm having the same problem. I heard it was because of XP. Do you run on XP too? Dan
Mister Frag 0 Posted October 4, 2002 Yes, I am on XP Professional. The link for the drivers I provided are for Windows 2000 and XP only.
SpaceAlex 0 Posted October 4, 2002 I solved the problem now. I uninstalled all directx files and then i installed directx 8.1b. That solved all problems. No more static noise, no nothing. EAX works without problems too. I'm on Windows XP Professional too.
Mister Frag 0 Posted October 4, 2002 How did you uninstall DirectX under Windows XP? It's not supposed to let you do that...

Mister Frag 0 Posted October 4, 2002 I wouldn't call deleting the files "uninstalling" them, but whatever gets the job done is OK with me...
DanAK47 1 Posted October 6, 2002 I have the same problem. I have Windows XP Home. I get static in vehicles and whenever a helo starts up the sound just kicks into idle, rather than sounding like the engine is warming up. I tried DLing the registry thing from avon's FAQ - didn't work. One thing I did find to reduce static was turning down volume in volume control (software) and turning it up on my speakers. Doesn't elminate static completely, but it seems to reduce it..
