emrak 12 Posted October 30, 2014 I apologize for threadjacking, but I cannot find out how to get permission to create a new post. :-/ Can anyone please recommend software suitable for this scenario: I am creating a custom mission using a large custom building. 100% of the mission will be inside the building. Aka, the building will be the "terrain". L3DT and World Machine do not seem suitable for this task; they seem more geared towards natural terrain. Thanks for any advice! :)
1para{god-father} 105 Posted October 30, 2014 Well you could use L3DT and create a Flat area and use a concrete surface for layers - place your Custom building on top - and there you go - but how big is the Custom building away !?

OK, so it sounds like L3DT is the way to go for building modeling? Just to be clear, I'm not saying that I already have a building made (I don't), I mean to be asking, what would be the best software to use to make the building itself? It's not going to be a skyscraper or anything, but it will be rather large. :)

Back on topic anyway, I have a little tutorial that can help with painintg roads I'll start another thread so that bushlurker (who advised me on it in Skype) can also add more detail and keep it on topic. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?185003-Road-painting-and-concrete-surface-tutorial&p=2807949#post2807949 Edited October 31, 2014 by SpookyGnu
emrak 12 Posted October 31, 2014 Blender! its free and there are are tonnes and tonnes of tutorials on youtube to see you through till the apocalypse. Gotcha. I'm very familiar with Blender, I've just never done a mod before so I didn't know if---since the building is the terrain (so to speak)---there was a "terrain builder" that allowed you build up walls and floors and so forth.
