New update, new disaster!

Recommended Posts

@Chortles: So you basically suggest BI (intentionally or not) broke the ARMA 3 flagship SP Survive-Adapt-Win campaign. I dont think so. Something is definitely off here.

Okay, so what do you think happened if it wasn't that?

I'd say rather that TEW's missions were never redesigned to account for the different pace that's caused/enforced by players needing to rest/slow down due to Fatigue.

It seems like BIS is implementing so many different changes and ideas without first having a set dependable AI base to begin with. Make that one in which is easily tweakable / adjustable by the customer / player. A simple aiming accuracy adjuster (while still being able to keep AI thinking high) would make the most sense to me. Get this down, then start going into weapons sway, fatigue, etc. It just seems A3 is all over the place with no set base game yet. I don't play A3 nearly as much as I did A2. It is just off with enemy and Blufor AI attributes (with no simple way to tweak to ones own liking).

You can set different values for accuracy and skill. I don't know if skill level determines the spotting ability, but from what I've tested, sometimes low skill AI was spotting me faster than higher skill (and I'm talking about extreme levels 0,05 vs 1). It could be as well just some random dice roll, which would be terrible.

In the past at least, you could set different values for your team and the enemy (great stuff, if you wanted to have an edge over the enemy and perhaps worry somewhat less about your own stupid team mates), however BIS took it out "in order for the mission creators to balance their work properly and not through AI settings". :j:

Campaign and perhaps showcases, I don't think they let the AI do what they want and are quite scripted, with god mode for some squad mates. Oh well, an overhaul for the AI was needed a long time ago, but that is valid for all aspects of the game. Even the updated graphics part.

@roshnak, Chortles: I don't know, I hope BI is in ARMA 3 experimental stage (even if we are out of the beta some major changes are being introduced ... and announced...) searching for optimal gameplay people will respond to.

But definitely the whole ARMA 3 experience (considering SP, Official Campaign, ...) is a bit off.

I don't really know what you're getting at, here. If you're having trouble with the official single player content that is in the game right now, it is almost certainly because the there have been a lot of changes to the gameplay that had unintended consequences on missions that were not designed with the gameplay changes in mind.

I will also say that Arma 3 is perhaps the first game in the series where I don't feel like I'm fighting the game.

Yes ARMA 3 till now is best playwise...

But I don't think BI broke the official campaign (because it was not designed for "new" gameplay). I believe they are testing the fighting mechanic and searching for a "fatigue" system that responds well and can be incorporated into whole ARMA 3 experience. But if people are getting problems now, it sure needs attention from developers as they cannot let essential content go amiss with the introduction of new content and evolution of ARMA.

The thing is that one would expect that BI (would/should) redesign the campaign missions to accommodate/work well with "a "fatigue" system that responds well and can be incorporated into whole ARMA 3 experience", but players have reported that this is not the case yet (missions being redesigned).

You do know Steam allows you to choose not to update a game? It's simply a matter of just clicking the button.

Mods aren't and shouldn't be supported by BIS. If any of them don't work appropriately with the current version, wait for the mod creator to update it.

Not entirely true, we do not want to break existing content, so backwards compatibility is always in mind. (Official, community content).

Ofc, it is not always possible to avoid it.

We do plan for campaign improvements/fixes along the way. ;)

I am in a group where we have heavily modded arma to make it a more realistic military simulator; every update sense the boot camp update has crippled are server little by little. However the newest update completely destroyed are server; the problem is that the server will load to the end of Altis after we select are troop and click ok. Arma realizes we are apart of the game and puts us in and we can shoot and walk but the screen doesn't load so we can't see anything and it is like the camera stays but are person moves. If anyone could help that would be amazing!
