theavonlady 2 Posted June 28, 2002 Can anyone hunt it down in an Atlas? http://kyllikki.tiimipeli.net/images/resshot/nogovathumb.png
ALDEGA 0 Posted June 28, 2002 Full size: http://kyllikki.tiimipeli.net/images/resshot/nogova.png I think it looks a bit like Tasmania (just under australia).

ALDEGA 0 Posted June 28, 2002 It looks better in a real atlas I don't think Nogova is based on a real island. The reason why I looked at Tasmania first is because: -Resistance has a "Tasmanian Devil" character -Seventh are from Australia
Vinsen 0 Posted June 28, 2002 Although it may be based on real terrain data, judging by looking at the map alone, it seems as though they tried to squeeze the biggest island possible into the available space. i.e. not much surrounding sea.
WhoCares 0 Posted June 28, 2002 Maybe it's based on Spitzbergen/Svalbard, with a little tilt and stretch of the north that is... However, we have only a spanish world map at the office, so I can check only bigger isles...
theavonlady 2 Posted June 28, 2002 You could just as well say it's France, with a tear in it down the bottom middle.

WhoCares 0 Posted June 28, 2002 While looking for Spitzbergen/Svalbard I found this map. And then I thought, hmmm, maybe not Svalbard, but what about Edgeoya in the SE of it?! the proportions would fit at least a little better (not that much stretching necessary
theavonlady 2 Posted June 30, 2002 C'mon! Ain't we got a single geography nerd - uh - expert on the forum, who can figure out what real world island Nogova is based upon?
Lazarus_Long 0 Posted June 30, 2002 Closest one I could find was the Island Limnos near Greece. Still not a perfect match... I don't know: An almost square island with deserts, mountains, large plains and a mysterious river running through the middle...hmmm. Nogova may be pretty, but it seems a little bit too odd looking to be geologically feasible. Of course I could be wrong.

theavonlady 2 Posted June 30, 2002 Eyes wide shut. I think BIS did a more accurate rendition of a real existing island.
