U.s. involvement in ofpr

Recommended Posts

Based on the storyline from OFP I'm kinda guessing not, being that the NATO forces in the area were taken completely by surprise by the Russain invasion. Just wondering if there was any U.S./NATO involvement in the Resistance campaign. It would be realistic for SF ODA's to conduct UW (Unconventional Warfare) and FID (foriegn internal defense) missions, which basically consists of Special Forces advising and training resistance soldiers, and possibly leading the on DA (direct action) missions to sabotage and harass enemy forces. SF is usually conducting ops in hot spots long before a conflict is known to conventional forces and the media. I kinda got the impression in the first campaign the our favorite black op was living on Malden as a civilian (or undercover as one) but that's a little unclear to me since OFP dosn't really follow U.S. special operations doctrine very accurately.

Not sure since I don't have it yet, but I guess there will be some U.S. activity since BIS gave (once again) load of weapons to West. And campaign probably uses these new weapons wink.gif.

The Black Op from the original game does come to the island to "advise".

Which begs the question. If the Soviet forces are defeated in Resistance why would they try to invade the other islands later on? Not sure if they get beat in Resistance cause I don't have it yet but would like to hear if they do get beat or not biggrin.gif

Maybe they were already on the other islands before 1982.

I don't see why they bothered calling it NATO... it is just the US... I don't see one Challenger 2, Leopard 2, Lynx, Tornado IDS or any piece of kit that isn't used by the US...

If they were already there why would they have to invade again? If they were overthrown why would they attack again with NATO right next door? Oh well. It's not like games or even action movies have the best full proof plots biggrin.gif I wouldn't be even thinking about this if I had the game now. Can't wait for it to get here

Uhhhhh, last time I checked iin real life NATO forces were primarily composed of U.S. troops and equipment, with maybe a cameo British tank platoon and a few Italian fighters. tounge.gif
