Bucic 1 Posted July 25, 2014 In other words: what are recommended system sound settings for ArmA 3? To my knowledge it's best to set system sound settings, namely the sampling rate, to match the intended source (ArmA in this case) to avoid re-sampling which in turn degrades sound quality. Slightly. Bucic 1 Posted October 3, 2019 The sad thing is I still haven't found the answer. I also asked on Steam community page https://steamcommunity.com/app/107410/discussions/14/43099721958388691 Crickets. The only trace I've found is "Sampling rate of 44.1 kHz is OK." mentioned in https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Multiplayer_Custom_Sounds_Tutorial The Sound modding 101 megathread contains the following information On 8/22/2016 at 11:00 PM, megagoth1702 said: Welcome bro! 🙂 wss contains only PCM data. No WAV headers or anything. The wss data is the same as the source (unless you set specific parameters to change the sampling rate) - usually nowadays 16bit 44.1khz stereo wav. I'm stoned and tired, gonna try to reply to chammy when I get some more time. Fucking busy with uni and party at the moment. Which I really enjoy tbh. 😄 It was my initial guess but I didn't post the question to resort to guesses. Anyway, I'm currently replaying some showcases so many times over I might as well switch down from 24 bit | sampling rate 48000 Hz (48 kHz) | Allow applications to take exclusive... TO 16 bit | sampling rate 41000 Hz (41 kHz) | Allow applications to take exclusive...
Yonif 0 Posted October 18, 2019 I don't have any answer, but i have a stupid question. What is the benefit of changing the sound's sampling rate?
danny_pants 0 Posted June 12, 2021 I found that in some cases certain sounds in Arma3 are silent (like gunshots or helicopter sounds are silent/missing), if my sampling rate is 48000 or higher (tried 88.2kHz and 96kHz). For example the gun & helicopter sounds are missing in the new Prarie Fire DLC, but if I switch to 48kHz sample rate all the sounds are working again.
