Unable to host dedicated server outside of LAN

Recommended Posts

Hello all. Late last year I had setup a dedicated server as per all the instructions and everything worked fine. My server showed up in the server browser with all the other 'internet' listed servers. I took a few months break and came back to it in my new house and now I can't get my dedicated server to host on the 'internet' listings, only 'LAN.'

The only changes I've made are that Arma had been upgraded in the 5-6 months since I was hosting prior, and I am using a new modem/router combo that I'm plugging into directly instead of using wifi.

I've tried forwarding my ports with a static IP as per instruction I picked up through internet searches, but I can't get my server out of the 'LAN' list and into public viewing.

I'm at a loss now. I don't know what else to do. I've tried all different kinds of port numbers and configurations. I really hope it's not that I switched from wifi to Ethernet, because that would be ultra stupid for ArmaDS to react differently to that.

I've updated all the dedicated server files. I have not tried a full reinstall, though. I dread that process.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well, you may or may not know that the game spy server have been shutdown. Therefore Arma moved to steam support in server hoasting/browsing/listing.

Everything you need to know is here

community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Dedicated_Server

If you've done everything here, make sure you have forward the ports for the SteamQuery, that way steam can see your server and list it on the "internet".

Yes, that is the wiki I used to set up my server last November. Yes, as stated I forwarded all suggested ports on my router/modem combo.

So, I got around to doing a full reinstall of all the server material. However, now when I click the icon for arma3server.exe, it loads the program but gives the message in the program window "battleye initialization failed." I got the most recent battleye DLLs and put them into their respective folders, but that made no difference. How is none of this working for me? What's the secret?

So I finally got ports 2302-2305 forwarded on my router, and I checked them all to be "OPEN" with various programs and they are. The firewall set up to allow Arma server to go through. Yet, my server is STILL appearing in the LAN list and not the INTERNET list. What gives?

In the CONFIG_Vanilla, are the ports in that cfg supposed to be the ones listed in the tutorial as steamport 8766/steamqueryport 27016? Or are they supposed to be 2302/2303? Not that it made a difference, as I've tried both. I'm just trying to make sure that's not a problem in the future if somebody can tell my what the hell is going on here.

Cant really answer your question but if it works in lan then I dont see what the problem is, just tell your friends to join you on lan.

No joy. Everything is in line with the information in that thread. Still showing up in LAN. The only thing I can think of now is that something about my modem/router just doesn't agree with the arma3server program. My modem/router is a Motorola SBG6782-AC. It's a combined modem with built in wifi, but the host computer is connected via Ethernet.

I've even tried using TADST to no avail.

Also, in the LAN menu, it says my LAN port is 2302. Is that supposed to be like that? I don't know how to change that, but doesn't that conflict with everything? It's defaulted to that on install.

I changed my game port in TADST to 2322, and my server no longer appears in the 'LAN' menu, but it doesn't appear in the 'Public' menu either.

///UPDATE///: FIXED! I just forgot to change my forwarded ports to 2322-2325. Game is a go.

ive gotten to the last part "I changed my game port in TADST to 2322, and my server no longer appears in the 'LAN' menu, but it doesn't appear in the 'Public' menu either." but thats as far as i can get. even if i forward all ports on everything firewall/router. when i do 2302-2305 its only in lan, when i do 2322-2325 it just never shows up. what am i doing wrong??!!
