sergeant rock 3 Posted December 27, 2001 I spent a great deal of time trying to find a Game Hosting Service that will support OFP (I'm even willing to foot a reasonable price on my own for a public server). Â I've had no luck. Â Does anyone know of one? Â I run a Deddy at home (6 person co-op mostly), but my upstream cable bandwidth sucks (ISP started capping at 128k - YUCK!). Â I have no alternative bandwidth schemes available here, DSL isn't available, and cable service doesn't offer a premium service. Â I'm so pissed! Â Any suggestions? suchey 0 Posted December 27, 2001 Perhpaps co-location is the key...of course, this would probably end up being quite expensive as you have to provide your own box and also pay the fees to have it co-located. My ISP offers this, but like I said, I dont know how the pricing will be... www.mtco.com
CADman-GUN- 1 Posted December 27, 2001 I have been looking also, only place I found so far is http://www.actionblaster.com but they are not replying to my orders hehe um. Shame Jolt (http://www.jolt.co.uk) will not host servers for rent on OFP, I wonder if they have tried 1.4 they where not happy with the deddy .exe back on game release. Cash waiting for one here to. Vegabond 0 Posted December 27, 2001 Guys, I must tell you that actionblaster.com has the worst service I have ever dealt with. Right now my OFP server is still sitting at 1.30. I have emailed them multiple times asking them to upgrade, and they never do. It is a waste of your money, believe me its not a good service. Its run by one man "Joel", and he is almost never home or won't listen to your requests. My server is also very slow, (thought he says its on a T3 line all by itself) which I do not believe. Please take my advice and do not use actionblaster, it is a very bad choice, a waste of your money, and just a horrible service for Operation Flashpoint. sergeant rock 3 Posted December 28, 2001 Thanks Vegabond, I'll stear clear of ActionBlaster. Â Since we all love the game so much, its too bad we couldn't all chip in and get a really great Dedicated Server going with extremely high bandwidth. Â The difficulty would come in getting reliable payments from each person, I'm afraid someone would get screwed. Â I've done some additional surfing, still nothing. Â I fired off a couple emails asking if they'll support it, but still no responses. Â They all support Quake, Half-Life and CS though....Yuck! There has to be a soultion..... CADman-GUN- 1 Posted December 28, 2001 Cheers for that info, it explains a few things. ah well. Shame no one supports ofp, considering its got large sales and current good servers run by players. Cant codies or BIS hook up a deal with a server farm, It sure is hard to maintain a squad if you cant find a server to rent for the game ah well the hunt goes on! CADman-GUN- 1 Posted December 28, 2001 hmm, maybe if enough squads say they want the service Codies/BIS could hook up a deal for a price with a server farm and offer this to squads, would be nice eh. While hosting some free public ones also hehe.
barret 0 Posted December 30, 2001 Uhh, ok cause im one of em Cs Freakz I asked some of my server buddies to help with this issue. Ok, Griffen run (one of the fastest cs server rental places) said would give it a try. They use a Tier 1 connection and run ultra net or somethin like that and they say it runs faster cause no one uses ultra net or some thing like that. Also, My friend and I are working on a "stats query" for ofp, so far I have asked servers such as Frag Haus, and Radish Ville T1 for some hosting files, but so far no one has sent me ne. So if there r ne nice server operatiors nice enough to give me some of these hosting files, we can begin work on this great and revolutionary project!!! Ace3 0 Posted January 8, 2002 As for the hostig of servers we are having the same problems here in Spain. No games hosting company is willing to support OFP. They just support the "usual" internet games, quake, hl, cs, and crap like that. Not support for OFP whatsoever. This is seriously hurting the Spanish OFP community. Recently we completed the first spanish ofp league which, despite all the server problems we had, was a total success. Now we are preparing the second edition of the league but with more problems. The owner of the only dedicated server we had for the battles (ADSL 2Mb down/512kb up, clearly not enough for 5 vs 5 games) has decided to quit, so no more ded. server for us. We are desperately looking for a server for this new edition of the league. As as I said the maches will be 5 vs 5, in a custom made CTF map. Currently there are 10 spanish squads involved in the league. Any help from the current european servers in hosting the games or any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. sergeant rock 3 Posted February 23, 2002 I had to bump this topic again. Â Are there any OFP Dedicated servers available for rent yet? Â Or will this forever be a pipe dream.... Â My cable ISP really sucks lately, but I have no other choice right now. Â The dedicated server I run for my squad is choking on bandwidth and we are looking for some options. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Â
BigQEd 0 Posted February 23, 2002 FragHaus supports OFP hosting! It is one of the more expensive games but only because BIS needs to fix the way OFP utilizes system and bandwidth resources. As they do the prices will fall. www.fraghaus.com Just send me an email...
