hneel 0 Posted July 7, 2002 Does Victor always die in this mission? Or is it possible to keep him alive in this mission? I shot 3 RPG's at the planes and then there was a cutscene where they came after me and shot me. This was the end of the game.
N.o.R.S.u 0 Posted July 7, 2002 I was thinking the same. There's an objective in that mission where it says "hopefully Geronimo arrives with tanks" or something so maybe if you wait enough, your buddies will come with tanks and help you out from the airport. Hey looks like that this is my 300th post
JJonth Cheeky Monkey 1 Posted July 7, 2002 when i was still in control there was a T55 and about 10 troops left on the runway, no russians, so i blow up the last plane with an RP5 from 750m away and when the cut scene cut in, no resistance, tons of russians and i was on the runway running away, i know its all preset, but this was silly, it reminded me of the hold malden level and i defeated the incoming tanks and stuff, no russians and a few mates left and i still had to retreat although there was nothing to retreat from
Gilroyg2001 0 Posted July 9, 2002 Yeah, I had the same problam, no enemies in sight around the airport, there was a T55 near the planes, so I blew the planes with an RPG, then there was the ace cutscene
JJonth Cheeky Monkey 1 Posted July 9, 2002 I did it again today, but i planted satchels near the planes and thought lets go and destroy some more stuff around thr map, so i looked down the runway and thought , there were 4 tanks in a group all looking away from me, so i picked up some satchels from the dead Spetz, and went killing so i planted a bomb behind each tank, next thing was BOOM!!, 1 T80, 1 BMP and 2 T72s all going up in smoke, but there was still a noise of tracks, so i looked around and ther was a shilka on the hill top near and thought again, so went back up the runway looking at the planes, still there and then it said Mission Failed! across the screen i thought , the planes where still ther right next to me, no pilots or anything, i couldn't detonate the bombs because i was so close to them, 5-6m away, it said that the planes took off and all i could do was watch them going. eh? But 1st thing: No pilots, planes cant generally fly without pilots 2nd thing: there was a burnt out T55 blocking the runway and thes weren't Harriers (they were SU25s)
KaRRiLLioN 0 Posted July 10, 2002 Yep kinda stinks to end that way. I hopped in my UAZG and took off until I was just within satchel range, blew them and then took off again. Didn't work. Still the cutscene. Why would Victor, a somewhat knowledgeable commander run across country like that instead of maybe hugging the coastline and getting the flock outta there? I was also kind of disappointed at the airport part. I mean at the end scene it shows a lot more airpower there and in a different formation. It was kind of silly that a T55 could penetrate all of those enemy T80's and such to get there. I was hoping at the final cutscene Geronimo would come barreling over the hill with some tanks to save the day. Alas, that was not in the cards for poor Victor. I understand war is hell, but can't we have a good ending? where Liz survives and she and Victor settle down to have a few kids? Dammit! I'm an American where most movies have a happy ending!! Give us a happy ending and let us have our illusions! *sniffs*
MarcusJClifford 1 Posted July 10, 2002 I rewrote the end cut scene. In my version, Victor is running into the hills as he did in the original, but just as all looks lost little specs appear on the cliffs above him. Low and behold is is a squad of US AT soldiers each one targets one of the tanks while Guba is giving his "Hollywood baddie" speech. Just as he is about to yell fire a voley of AT round slam into each tank. There are still some infantry left, but they are taken care of by a Apache that seeeps in over the beach. Victor sees Guba running away (back to airport) and pursues on foot, but he is without any weapons. Guba reaches his MI:17 Helicopter, and it takes off but Victor is able to grab hold of the undercarridge, (using an attatch.sqs script from OFPEC.com), but Victor falls off as the MI:17 as it moves over the sea. He survives and the final scene is him promising revenge. Fade to black.
shadow 6 Posted July 10, 2002 hehe sounds like a cool ending you got there, MarcusJClifford But I think the one D'n'A and Sith made is more apropriate as there is no mention of Victor in the original campaign I'm not saying I like sad endings, but I find it more apropriate for the sequel (the first campaign).
