Contents:

-One folder for use in the editor (feel free to learn and copy from this mission).

-One pbo that goes into the "missions" folder to play right away.

Overview:

Your squad of guerillas has just received a shipment of new uniforms and weapons and is about to wreak havoc on the enemy.

Status:

Third version, feedback very much appreciated.

Changelog:

-Dependencies removed

-Custom textures for the intro, kindly provided by Brainbug

-Custom textures for enemy soldiers and vehicles made from daisukekazama's and fallschirm-jaeger's as well as madcomputerscientist's (for the outro) camo textures at www.camo-club.deviantart.com

-Additional mission objective added

-UPS script updated to the latest version

-Scope added in the gear crates

-Toned down enemy numbers (still very hard difficulty)

-Added 3 squads available to control with Ctrl+Shift

Known Issues:

-Intro is to be redone by a fellow very community member. Right now it is not very clear or technically perfect

-First objective (Ambush truck) does not tick off

-Very high difficulty - need advice which script to use to keep the patrols random without overwhelming the player

Nice enough mission. However you're not using the latest version of UPS. Your using v.2.1.2 when the latest is 2.2.0. Also I'd add the random option to the patrols so they are randomly placed inside the patrol area. Also I'd suggest adding the helo's at the airport as a target, or side mission, and perhaps an ammo crate at the base so you can blow them up. But I always equip the AI enemy with equipment you can use against them, ie. AT and Explosives guys. Also I'd use a random weather script just to add atmospherics.

And a final note. Why add the SP Pack. It add's NO value to the mission for what are some very basic cosmetic changes. You're also reducing your audience by forcing the use of a mod.

In the mean time, keep up the good work.

I second that, you could just use the guerilla smocks, the two uniform variants with black shirts would fit to your story, berets can be found in vanilla A3 as well (although only black, but that might be enough for your cause).

And apart from that, the mission won't load at all because of missing addons:

don't know why it lists the first two lines, I did have the SP pack loaded.

cha_rus and caf_ag_eur are unused, you just probably had it loaded and the editor saved it, you can delete them from the blocks "addOns[]" and "addOnsAuto[]" (both at the top of either "class mission" and "class intro").

And instead of using the Land_A_Tent from ca_misc3 (i.e. old A2 content, or actually even older) you can perfectly use the Land_TentA_F from vanilla A3 which is exactly the same tent.

EDIT: If you only need black and maybe tan uniforms, you can put the needed textures in the mission pbo and load them with this setObjectTexture [0,"yourbackuniformtexture.paa"] in the init of a soldier. Thus you'd only have a slightly larger mission pbo but wouldn't need a full blown addon.

I can paint you one or two uniforms quickly, just say what you need (when I'm at it, I can easily customize it further than the ones in the SP pack, e.g. with a logo or evil looking stripes etc.). Or if it's just for the intro and you don't need a detailed texture, you can just use a small e.g. 64x64 pixel texture in a single color (warning: don't use 100% black, that looks really shitty, better a dark grey). You still have details through the normal map etc, so it won't look flat, and it will do the job fine for the intro.

I didn't actually download the mod, I just looked it up, saw it was a basic uniforms addon, and removed the dependency of the mod from the mission.sqm file.

You can edit the mission.sqm and remove all references to these.

Next replace all units with proper ArmA3 class units.

I would post the mission.sqm file for vanilla ArmA3 but this is Mathias_Eichinger's mission.

Note to Mathias_Eichinger:- I enjoyed the mission, especially as I took the time to hunt down and kill every enemy on the map. Hence my suggestion to add the Airport helo's as a side mission target.

Please consider releasing a vanilla ArmA3 version.

that's exactly what I did, that way I found out that he needs them mainly for the intro. ;)

Ah, crap, forgot to check the mission.sqm this time!

Thank you for your keen eyes gentlemen, I will update the mission accordingly in the following days - all your suggestions are pretty valid stuff. The helos were intended as a target from the beginning, yet since the enemy converges on you like a ton of brick once detected, that objective was left out to attain a "playable" level of difficulty.

sry for answering so late, haven't found time yet to play it. And obviously noone else tried^^ Because there are still dependencies that prevent playing without addons: You have not used any units, but there are still lines in the addon lists at the beginning of the mission and the intro blocks (do a search for "caf" and for "rus"), delete the lines and you are fine. Remember not to save the mission when you have loaded addons, they tend to save itself into this list even if nothing is used from the addon.

Also I noticed that you have included the 7z file that I sent you, that can be deleted of course ;) just to lower the file size. Your camo textures ought to have a higher resolution, only 128x128 is really, REALLY low (2048x2048 is the default size for the uniform textures, 1024x1024 still looks ok, but if you go below 512x512, it really starts to be quite blurry). And when you are at it, do away with the ugly white edge ;) Might not be visible too much on the actual soldier though.

You've missed a few guys (the team leader in grid 085196, and two at the camp southwest of the tower, maybe more) when setting the texture, init field is still empty.

Concerning the mission itself: You could (or rather should) explain better who is fighting who here. We see the black shirt nazi thugs in the intro, obviously the bad guys, who somehow control the area, but more like a motorcycle gang than a proper fascist government. And the player is going to be a good guy fighting them, being a FIA resistance team leader. But then who are the two parties that have a tank fight in the background in the intro? And who are the soldiers that the player is fighting against in the mission?

Also you could give a hint where the truck is supposed to drive along (from/to) and when it will come by, is it expected to be accompanied by any escort etc.

Yay! Could finally play it yesterday, tonight I´ll try to accomplish it (forgot to save often, and got killed halfway on this great but challenging mission and just had a very early save to revert to =P)
