The Arma 2 servers and connecting to them using Arma2 for DayZ

Am having real issues trying to get on to a server to play Arma 2 DayZ. I logged into Arma 2 and did the New Recruit training and that was fine. I've played Dayz using the DayZ Standalone client.. and that was fine.

I recently purchased the complete set for Arma2 that allows you to play DayZ but for some reason every time i try and get on a server it kicks me off.

I tried for at least 2 hr last night to get on to a server and it was the same thing over and over. I even downloaded and used DayzCommander to help with server selections and youtube how to set it up properly etc and it was the same crap for another hour trying to get on.

I updated most of the Dayz mods / server under update and installation but it was the same thing again.

So am just wondering if you can still play DayZ using Arma2 or is the only way to play the DayZ is by using the DayZ standalone mod.

If anyone knows why i cant connect to these servers or how i can best setup my connection to improve my chances, am all ears. I really need to find a way to figure this out.

Some thing about your missing downlaodable content blah blah blah. But i used DayzCommander to update the servers i try to connect to.

You cannot play / edit this mission ...it is dependant on content that has been deleted... some thing .Ibr_panthera2 and some other stuff.

No matter the server, they are all like that. Some even say i am connected then 5 seconds later it will say 'you were kicked off server'. So i have no idea how these private servers or what ever servers are being run.

Yes.. i setup the type of servers i want as well as updated the servers under ( install / update ). But for some reason every time i click join i just kicks me off. Or it says i cant play / change xyz mission.

2 options:

- you try to join to server and you dont have needed addons or you didnt launch correct version of dayz

-you try to join to server but you launched wrong dayz version, for example you trying to join DayZ on Panthera island but you have vanilla Dayz or other version of mod

Well i havle a ton of dayz Versions... from Arma 2 down the line. Now how am i suppose to pick one. Is it the option of making it the first one in the list of servers by moving it up to the top ?

Check the server name before you join, there will be info which version of dayz he is running.

For example if you see;

Dayz 1.0.8.3 its vanilla mod,

Dayz Epoch - you need to run game with this mod,

Dayz Origins - run Origins

DayZed - run the game with DayZed

etc.

In dayz commander in window where you have server list, first you have server name and then "version", there you have info about which mod you need to play.

Well i just tried it on a few of the DayZ servers and i connected to 1 of them then it kicked me off and the game crashed.... lol

Yes i have OA beta installed.

I just came across a post listed on steam where someone ( alot ) of people are having the same issues. One of them said he got it working by using Playwithsix so am trying that right now. Hopefully it works.

so far its installing the OP beta patch i think you were talking about along with epoch and some other stuff. Ton of mods on this alot.

K, I think i have reached the point where i can say... Fuck this game !

I have tried every thing in the last 3 days to get Arma 2 DayZ to run. I have NEVER had an issue running DayZ Standalone.. NEVER. Every freaking time i try to log on to one of the ba'Zillion servers that are out there for this game i get d/c or kicked off the server. I had tried just about ever single patch / mod / addon or what ever to try and get this shit fixed and all it is, is more of the same. 3 Freaking days of downloading and tweaking and installing and what not and i cant even so much as get into a fucking server.

$8 on steam... thats right... nothing to moan and groan about but if i knew that this would have been the result i wouldnt have paid even that for this.

Arma 2 runs fine... played the grunt missions today np. But for some freaking reason Arma 2 DayZ doesnt want to run... so fuck it.

Thank you to all those who tried to help but after downloading PlayswithSix and updating the mods through that and still nothing... I'll just wait for H1Z1.

You can always run mod by adding -mod=@modname to exe file.

Create for example ond desktop shortcut to file -> Launch arma 2 oa beta patch (you will find this file in main arma 2 folder).

Click RMB on shortcut and in first "window" where you have path for exe on the end of line put Spacebare and after that write

-mod=@dayz. Launch the game and join to servers with vanilla dayz 1.0.8.3.

Create another shortcut with -mod=@dayzepoch (if this is your folder name), launch the game to join Epoch servers.

Make other shortcuts for any mod you want.

Do you have latest Beta for arma 2? Iam asking because friend of mine installed the latest beta and since then he could not join any DAYZ server, and he could not even rollback to the older beta patch in dayzcommander for some reason. he somehow managed to unistal the latest patch and install the older one, and since then he is ok. I dont know details we discussed it by phone but maybe you have same problem. So try to use older beta.

Almost all DayZ servers are using beta patch in version 103718so its best to have this version.

You english is fine man :) And i think i have the latest beta for arma2. When i launch Arma2 Dayz it usually asks me if i want to do the normal Dayz or Dayz with beta patch.
