That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. "Well damn. They beat us. Let's just send a couple tanks at them. Oh wait, that is enough to totally destroy them, shoulda thought about that." biggrin.gif

hehe biggrin.gif.

The funny thing is that in other missions (such as the big tank battle) the russians outnumber you with tanks, yet you still manage to defeat them biggrin.gif And in the last cutscene where Guba sends loads of tanks at the resistance destroying the fortification in the desert. Why didnt he do that before? When the tanks first arrived on the island. He could destroy the smaller resistance bases while ignoring the heavily fortified ones while making the resistance weaker and weaker while the Soviet army would get stronger and stronger because of supplies from Russia forcing the resistance to retreat to highground or the center of the island... Eventualy Guba would kick resistance arse biggrin.gif

Details, details..  biggrin.gif

Well, Guba will probably be back after the 1985 campaign, and I am so looking forward to kick his butt again! This time I hope to put him 6ft below. Have had it with that crazy old man..

If the ending was like any Hollywood war movie, Victor Troska would grab his insanely huge gun and blast away, killing them all. The only survivor would be Guba, they would fight Jedi style with a touch of Jet Lee, then Guba would fall down into some horrible death.

i still think it was a great campaign.... much better than red hammer - not hard really

i liked the ending and i think you are really nit picking at this small fact.... its a nice way to end the campaign (sad) and it also shows you how attached u become to troska as u think - dang.. they killed me.... feeling a bit sad now but then the yanks come and kick some ass.

also gastovski's heart wrenching talk to his commander and when he resigns... very sad.... but leads u nicely onto the original campaign (which i still play).

great stuff bis, keep it up. tounge.gif

I was expecting the cavalry to come in at any time to save me but it never happened. Or maybe shoot guba when hes turned out. But Victor seems to have read the book of "How to defend your Sovieregn nation against aggresors" and then thrown it away. I mean who ever hears of resistance taking on Soviet forces in massed tank battles? He says at the start victory is impossible but I was expecting him to reveal his master plan for invading Russia and taking Moscow at any time? (By the way in first strike HOW did he get all those tanks) at the end of the last mission I had A damaged T-80 and T-72s and he couldent have got them from modrava cos I blew the whole town up

Like I said, I liked the ending, but it was sad. My jaw dropped when I saw what was about to happen.. almost yelled "RUN, RUN!!!", but he just turned around and looked at Guba as he knew he was doomed.. Jesus, what was a heavy moment.. (grabs another tissue) sad.gif Didn´t get any lighter when James quit either. He was just.. tired.

So.. when will IL be out? J/K! tounge.gif

the ending sucked,i wasnt even close to where the cutscene started ,i popped the last jet standing close to water,i easily could have made it to safety, just hug the shorline ,i find it totally unforgivable that the makers didnt take into consideration the experienced player could do this mission without dying.and what a moron running into a deadend.

*sigh* stop nit-picking. It was a great ending even though it was wery, wery, wery, wery sad. i liked the bit when Gastovski was "signing off". He just started to talk when the music was playing. It was COOL! Although his letter put a lump in my throat. God I love OFP!

Lets all chant Victor's name!

"Victor, Victor, Victor, Victor, Victor, Victor, Victor, Victor, Victor, Victor..."

tounge.gif PEACE

The fact that the ending has caused so much discussion is testament to it being a good ending.

The ending was perfect, the problem is, many people don't like it or fully understand it because they can't read Czech. You see, the phrase that is shown at the end of the credits in Resistance (and 1985 for that matter) means:

Dedicated to those who died so that we may live

Way to pay homage to fallen soldiers BIS, not enough game companies do that properly.
