Question about compatibility of Arma 2: Army of the Czech Republic - Steam version

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

I'm a little bit confused. I own the following games:

Arma 2: Combined operation (non steam version)

Arma 2: Reinforcements (non steam version)

As the only missing thing is the Army of the Czech Republic (and it's on discount now) I was about to buy it. The only problem is, there is only the Steam version.

If I buy it anyway, will I be able to install it, although my other Arma 2 games are non steam versions?

Thank you kindly for the answer.

DLC at gamersgate costs 6.90€, whereas Arma 2 Complete (steam version) at bistore costs 7.50€ (and it's probably a hassle free instalation).

Yes, and it looks like BI is discontinuing all non-Steam patches and support. So it looks like Steam versions are the way to go for the future. But double-paying for a game (even a few Euros) is seriously questionable, especially just to obtain the rather bug-ridden ACR. BI should support their fans by offering free upgrades to Steam versions if non-Steam versions are already owned...

You can already get the DLCs for free with the ALDP.

Wow, learn something new every day. I've never heard of that before. Thanks, kju! :)

The description of what all that is about, how to install, etc. etc. is lacking, to say the least. Looks like a hassle to me....

Cool. What is the catch? Why are they offering free content when they are selling it in BiStore?
