This is a guide on how to get quick and easy 612 x 612 /w cellsize of 10m and 3000 x 3000 /w cellsize of 2m heightmaps from finland. That would be about 36sqkm chunks. These you can open and edit as you wish in l3dt/terrain builder/other, but this is not a guide for that. Its basic l3dt knowledge and arithmetic to get a arma/terrainbuilder compatible sized heightmap. step 1: Go to https://tiedostopalvelu.maanmittauslaitos.fi/tp/kartta?lang=en and you will be greeted with the glorious map of finland. As you see this is the resource download service of the National Land Survey of Finland. On the left you see the product list. Click open elevation model (10m) or (2m) which ever you prefer. Then click the plus icon (next to "text" or "all features") to add the map layer. Now that you've done that you can zoom around and you should see the grids on the map. Click on the grid to highlight it and it will be added to right side of the screen on the selected products section. If you want a 12000 x 12000 orthophoto to use as a mask for terrain editing / building placement help select the orhophoto and pick the grids you want, as you did with the heightmaps. they're of format .j2p or something wierd like that, and size of ~200mt. You can open these in gimp or photoshop to convert to your format of choice. When you're done click the place your order button and give your email address and read the license terms dont be a jerk.
