BigBANGtheory 10 Posted March 26, 2014 I love the concept of Take On Mars and loaded the game yesterday (not the developer branch) I know there are some community videos to help, and parts of a manual and tutorial vids in game.... but I am still lost. When I start a Career Mode game I do not start in Mission Control I seem to start straight into a probe and I see no info on how to control anything? What am I supposed to be doing? Thanks in advance.
dram 14 Posted March 26, 2014 Hi! Yeah that is the intro mission - it is the Russian Mars 3 lander. Right click to get the cursor, and click on the icon at the bottom (to open the vehicle up). Next, driver the small Prop-M rover that deploys when you open the vehicle up for 15 seconds. You can check if you are driving it by going to 3rd person perspective if need be. Lastly, switch to the instrument HUD mode (press H to cycle through them) until you find the instrument HUD (it should be the 2nd). There, click on the center of the screen to perform the analysis. That should finish the prologue. Hope that helps!
BigBANGtheory 10 Posted March 26, 2014 ah I see you are trying to tell part of a story, yeah it actually makes a lot more sense when you see it in 3rd person. Can I recommend you place the player in 3rd person for this intro mission? Thanks Dram, that has got me started.
dram 14 Posted March 27, 2014 Yeah might be a good idea with the 3rd person for start. At least by default.
rfc 10 Posted May 3, 2014 Hmm .. yeah .. at least SOME cues are necessary. Someone starting this for the first time or, like me, after a few months -> had virtually no idea; er no, LITERALLY no idea how to proceed. I opened the vessel by luck and, again by luck, moved the rover into sight. Failed on how to get the samples without finding this thread. It made a bit more sense when I first tested the EA when it started in the control room ...
