theevancat 277 Posted February 23, 2014 So I've decided to foray into modeling with a plan of making stuff in Blender (I have the toolbox kit already installed) and, if need be, running the model through Oxygen to work out some of the other stuff besides the basic model. Anyways, I've gone through a few tutorials but I'm still pretty hazy on everything I need to do. I've looked through the forums and I'm still kind of lost. Basically I'm working on a backpack (well, satchel pack) model to put in the game - something I didn't think would be too difficult since I wouldn't have to do something like a PhysX LOD or whatever. I think I just have to do the model and the geometry LOD before doing a baking or UV map (which I'm still confused about) but I'm not sure. In addition, I could also use feedback on the actual model since I've just started with a basic understanding of everything. Thanks for any help.
surpher 1 Posted February 23, 2014 You can use Kiory's Alice Pack as a reference. also a tutorial here Custom Backpack Tutorial by STALKERGB
theevancat 277 Posted February 23, 2014 So now when I try to import the (finished) model from Blender into O2, I get errors on every file type. When I export as .3ds and import it, I get a KFDATA error or something. .obj gets a parse error. I don't know what to do, since this never came up in any tutorials. surpher 1 Posted February 23, 2014 Export as .p3d from Blender.
theevancat 277 Posted February 24, 2014 Export as .p3d from Blender. It's not letting me. The option is there but when I click to do it and export it, nothing shows up.
surpher 1 Posted February 24, 2014 nothing shows up. You have an empty lod in your p3d after export? If so are you setting your objects as Arma objects in the properties shelf (press N key to toggle on/off) and setting there lods.

It doesn't export from what I see. I think I fixed the issue. No, I can't seem to figure out how to add LODs with Blender. I see the option and the user manual doesn't offer any help if I'm reading it correctly. I figured that it won't export because it has no LODs. saltatormortis 12 Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) blender has no lods it has only objects and with the exporter you make a object to a lod inside a p3d the newest version(v1.5) have a userguide inside the 7z-package as a pdf http://friedenhq.org/?page_id=251 Edited February 25, 2014 by SaltatorMortis

Like I said, I'm brand-new to all this.
surpher 1 Posted March 1, 2014 Tick the Arma Object Properties box.
theevancat 277 Posted March 3, 2014 So maybe I didn't do it right but I don't have the tick box.
surpher 1 Posted March 3, 2014 Strange, not to worry you have access to the settings. If you exported now you should have a basic 1.000 lod in your .p3d. Have you set Arma Toolbox Settings to point to the O2Script.exe path? And what version of Blender are you using?
theevancat 277 Posted March 3, 2014 Path to the script in toolbox settings: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\Tools\Oxygen 2 Personal Edition\O2Script.exe"\ And I'm on Blender 2.68.
surpher 1 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) Drop O2Script.exe from the path, here is mine for example. G:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Arma 3 Tools\Oxygen2\ Blender 2.69 is the latest stable build, 2.70 is imminent with a release candidate set for tomorrow. theevancat 277 Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) Oh, okay. I'll try that and see what happens. Would I have to reinstall the tools if I update? So I dropped the script.exe from the path and still no dice. Updated Blender to 2.69 and updated the tools to the recent 1.5. Got it to work.
