ArmA 3 is not launching on Windows 8.1

Recommended Posts

Two days ago I upgraded Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. Immediately after I updated, ArmA 3 would not launch, when I clicked play it would do absolutely nothing. I have tried launching it in windowed and full screen, neither work. I have verified the files at least eight times. I have also clean installed the game three times now. After doing all of this, I have come to the conclusion that it was the Windows update to 8.1 that is the problem here. Is there anything that I can do? Or am I stuck waiting for BI to make a fix for it?

Thank you ahead of time for whoever can spend their time to help me out!

Yeah, guy says in the steam thread:

"Nvidia 326.01 drivers fixed my problems!" --notebook only.

Working fine for me on Win8.1 Update everything you can, esp GFX drivers as said ^^

Should I install the optional updates as well? Right now I have updated my Nvidia graphics card to the latest driver. My Steam is updated as well. But there are two optional Win 8.1 updates I can do as well.

Is everything working now?

If it's all ok now, maybe wait for the dust to settle on these hotfixes?

Still not working on my end. Maybe BI or Steam will have to look into it, it seems that only ArmA 3 is not working.

Ahh, so the updates won't hurt and may help.

Be sure to restart the rig after updating and think about a full defrag down the line.

Keep us posted....

So a little update for today. I have restarted my computer, still no luck. ArmA 2 works fine, as does OA. It's just ArmA 3 that is giving me the problem. Most definitely on BIS end.

Ok, you want to go thru the steps leading to the crash?

Here's some random stuff :

"just disable at NVIDIA Control Panel underl "Stereoscopic 3D" the stereoscopic 3D feature that seems will enable by default during update"

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?158185-Arma-3-Cant-launch-at-Windows-Blue-8-1-x64&highlight=windows

[edit]

Also, did steam run vcredist_x86.exe and dxsetup.exe on the reinstall?

Dxsetup.exe is in the a3 folder, but no clue for the vcredist_x86.exe.

Fixed. There was a odd Injector file in the ArmA 3 folder. Needless to say, once removed the game behaved effortlessly.

SweetFX injector?

How did the injector remain after 3 clean re-installs?

No idea! But yes, it was from the SweetFX. Just glad I got it fixed. So beware, the injector can stay in for clean installs

Hello guys, i am having a problem, i just got the game, i have beeing trying to play it but i havent been able to.

The launcher opens with no problems, but as soon as i click the play button it gives me the error 0x000007b - 1073741701... at the moment i can play all my games without that problem. I play, bf4,bf3,dota2, dragonage, vedun insurgency, etc etc, and i am able to play them all just fine.

I have tried many solutions given in internet but none of them seens to work.

processor: i5-4670k

gpu: GTX 770 OC

i would be very hrateful if you can give me a hand with this, thanks.

turn off NVIDIA stereoscopic 3D. WIll try this and your suggestion. (its off, still same problem), all my nvidia drivers are up to date too

added: trying all the methods given, even bf4 started to give me the same error, but furtunally i fixed it... but arma 3 continues with the error... i am really thinking about asking for a refound
