What Objects would you want to see for Visitor??

We'll this is something I am trying to do as of now. The thing is it takes anywhere from 5-10 times longer to model a building with an interior. It is my preference to do this but it could hinder the quantity of buildings released..... However that said if it was generally agreed on this thread that non interactive buildings are of no interest then I would take that into full consideration and keep the non enter able buildings to a serious minimum.

Imo it depends on the usage. Of course ideally every house should have nicely furnished interior. However performance. If you build a village consisting of 5 houses then that may be ok, but not for a larger city. I think you have to use some "filler" buildings that are not interactable with or maybe just a limited number of floors (e.g. if its a really high building, it could have the bottom 2 floors, one in the middle and the roof enterable. All other doors are locked) ). Because otherwise the performance drops through the floor, and from a gameplay perspective there could potentially be too much room for the number of npc's/players that play in that area.

Just imagine you'd have to clear just one block of these houseclusters (assuming intact buildings)...

You wouldn't be finished in under one day just checking all the rooms.

As a rule of thumb i would say - if the building can exist multiple times (or in similar variety) close to each other, it doesnt need to be fully interior'ed/ it is usefull to have version with no interactibility as space filler.

If it's a unique building - laboratory, radio station, etc it should be accessable and furnished where it makes sense.

That got me thinking, a laboratory/research base type of building would be nice to have.

EDIT: Surfer kind of said this already but yeah, a lab building..

functional buildings police stations, fire station, government buildings, banks, offices, shops, warehouses, garages not petrol sort showrooms, street furniture, food items and any other items that fit shops as there is never enough when building terrains.

I made over 100 models for belfast to make it look uk ish \NI from good old hedges to walls to driveways, when my hard drive comes back from the usa hopefully fixed ill chip in on a pack with you, I can't be arsed to start again so if the data is saved ill happily give them up.

ps don't forget all the a2 models that can be used and retextured for any destination, sign wise

All things you have mentioned are exactly the kind of things I am talking about. I am toying with a pack which would include the following.......

Small shopping mall, casino, hospital, bowling alley, small supermarket and a cinema.

I have drawn designs for the mall,casino, bowling alley and hospital. The mall and hospital I have designed in sections that can go together in a few different ways in order to create different sizes and shapes, these would also include outbuildings that May or may not be enter able but would add to creating slightly more complex looking buildings without compromising poly count. Then of course would come the additional items to populate said buildings...... Ie hospital patient trollies, seating, curtains etc.

As of this second I am trying to finish a pack I started. I wanted to make a nice selection of hi res graves..... Which has now turned into a full church pack!!!! I am just finishing up the 30m church tower fully enter able for sniping etc. again this is in bits so can be assembled to make different varietys or shapes. I will post some screens next week of my progress.

I agree we need a vegitation mod, I must admit the terrain could use an overall.

I think we also need bigger more complex buildings, I think we could use a few of these added to the editor:

-Mental hospital

-Military bunkers

-Hospitals

-Naval yards

And then a few hopefuls on my part

MGS Outer haven

Resident Evil's Hive

I anyone wants to have a go for me, it would be much appreciated

We'll I'm getting on nicely with the church pack I want to get finished.

I am definatly set on hospital (which I have designed already), a supermarket or mall type building and my latest design .......

Which is only slightly inspired by recent events in The Walking Dead..... Ok ok nearly completely inspired by the fore mentioned ....... A prison! Again I have been looking at how to make this so that the terrain builder could make it as small or as elaborate as desired. I can't think of a more complex building than a hospital or a prison with different wings.

Any sensible thoughts on the design of these will be taken on board ;-)

As I said I will post some screens of WIP... Just had to get Xmas outta the way :)

Ps, for these buildings I have a list as long as my arm of small supporting objects to make. If anyone knows of anyone who may want to take part in this project or is good with 02 and has nothing else going on then please shout out

Also war torn buildings lots of holes in walls, ceilings hanging down, busted out windows, debris all over the place some what like syria at the moment.

I really wish I was better at 3d modelling or had any real experience to help. I was hoping to learn to do it so maybe once i get a bit further along.

Heck yeah, I would love to see especially Shadow Moses or the original Mansion from the original Resident Evil/Remake.

But thats propably never going to happen D:, very very very complex buildings/areas to do in something like arma. Also I highly doubt the AI would work on those.

Hmmm.... a very good question. Perhaps some actual aircraft hangars, in different variations? Big enough to fit a C-130 or C-17 or similar, perhaps with the tail sticking out like some do in the real world.

Uh... One thing I could see getting a lot of use is a set of military barracks. Maybe a commissary (grocery store) or PX (food court/mini mall almost), and a shoppette (convenience store/gas station). Some big warehouses, and maybe some of the vehicles/aircraft from the 22gb of sample models turned into statues on a simple little base, or a mount for the aircraft?
