Modle maximum length

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I wish to know what is the maximum length of a model you can draft, before you would have to divided the model up in to sections? Thanks. In meters please.

The Geometry LOD will be the limiting factor, the general rule i believe for Vehicles and Buildings is a 60m maximum for Geometry LOD

To your question zachgibson22. Somewhere in the past, I read that the maximum length for a model was between 120 -130 meters. If that is the case. I will plan to model a SSN (114 m), and a LCS (115 m). With internal and external features such as the bridge, engine room, reactor room (sub), weapons controls, etc. However I would need to know the limit of the length to move forward with my project.

To pastor339. I believe that in ArmA 2 there was an DDG that was at maximum length. At present the DDG length is 160 m. But also there was a frigate that length is 109 m that was one piece I believe.

Sorry no idea. I just want to know what the hell your making if it's that big!

you don't need to reply if you have no answer.

Maximum GeoLOD size is 50m (60 is pushing it)

Like most things ..... depends.

If you just want to do a big ship and you don't want to walk on it and you dont want to land planes on it .......

100-200 meters is fine ....... but;

- Geometry and Fire Geo lods may not work properly all the time when you bump/fire stuff at it, or stuff (like small craft) bump into it.

- Really big and sometimes the Resolution LOD will "clip" at the edge of your ingame vision .... i.e. the whole ship will disappear in the corner of your eye.

All the same as ArmA2

Or as PuFu say, make it out of 50m bits.
