toxicsludge 12 Posted October 14, 2013 (edited) In an effort to improve my limited piloting skills, I decided to see how fast I could circle the entire island of Altis, following the coastline as best I could. It didn't turn out the way I planned :D Post your best times! **New Video 23/10/13** Edited October 23, 2013 by ToxicSludge Added video

roguetrooper 2 Posted October 14, 2013 Make a trial with these conditions: * across the whole isle (from outmost NW to SE or NE to SW) * never fly higher than 50m (trigger condition: ((getpos (vehicle player)) select 2) > 50) - activation: player setdamage 1.0) :)
sektor 2 Posted October 14, 2013 What are you using for controls? Edit: did you refuel at any time? Edit's edit: i made the edit above before watching the whole clip :)
toxicsludge 12 Posted October 14, 2013 Toxic, you posted this in the dedicated video thread, it is against forum rules to cross post buddy. Sorry mate, I wasn't aware. I'll delete from the Vid forum :) Make a trial with these conditions:* across the whole isle (from outmost NW to SE or NE to SW) * never fly higher than 50m (trigger condition: ((getpos (vehicle player)) select 2) > 50) - activation: player setdamage 1.0) :) That sounds like a great idea, except I don't know how to implement those conditions! :)What are you using for controls?Edit: did you refuel at any time? Edit's edit: i made the edit above before watching the whole clip :) Using a 360 controller, I find it sooo much easier!
progamer 14 Posted October 14, 2013 Why don't you make a mission which record the time and has those large glass like circle things as checkpoints?
toxicsludge 12 Posted October 14, 2013 Why don't you make a mission which record the time and has those large glass like circle things as checkpoints?I'm still learning the editor, but that is one of my goals :)Maybe a more experienced mission maker could make one for all of us? ATTACKM0DE 10 Posted October 14, 2013 (edited) I did it the day I got my hands on Altis in a littlebird. I took off and just followed the coastline. I made a fuel stop once or twice before landing in the same spot some 52minutes later I believe. I was not racing though!! I see you ran out of fuel in that vid lol. I almost did twice! Ive got the day off work, I might do this again in a ghosthawk or something and time it. Proving who is the fastest pilot may be a bit hard as you know, even trying to strictly follow the shoreline, you sometimes accidently cut across it in parts. But in the name of FUN I, in for another go! ---------- Post added at 10:57 ---------- Previous post was at 09:48 ---------- Ok did it in 37 minutes in the ghosthawk.. Much prefer the littlebird but I didn't want the fuel issues this time. Edited October 14, 2013 by ATTACKM0DE

Video or it didn't happen ;)
sektor 2 Posted October 15, 2013 Using a 360 controller, I find it sooo much easier! I also started using controller and would recommend it to everyone.

toxicsludge 12 Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) I have created a rather simple "mission" for those looking to improve their flying abilities. (Thanks to RogueTrooper for the idea!) Basically it involves flying from waypoint to waypoint, staying under a predetermined height (currently set at 30m). If you exceed this height, you will have a massive heart attack and die ;) It starts from the upper right of Altis, and goes (somewhat) diagonally to bottom left, passing some sightseeing checkpoints along the way :) If you fly below 3m, you will get a "nice flying" encouragement! I am using it as my own personal time trial, starting the timer after i pass the "Start" checkpoint, and stopping after the "End" checkpoint is passed. If anyone would like to try it, I'll be happy to upload it or put it on Steam, and would love to see some of your efforts with it! (I am in no way a mission creator, so don't expect much, but I am learning!) This is version 1, in version 2 I'd like to have each checkpoint marked with smoke, and maybe even incorporating a random checkpoint system :) I'll upload a video of this new time trial shortly, although I keep crashing and haven't made it to the end yet hehe! Although I am trying to stay under 5m all the time...if I am more liberal with my flying height, I'm sure I could pass it easily!
