Zephyr vs Asraam

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what is the difference between those two AA missiles? I see that Asraam is a bit faster and supposedly it should be short range(is it? it seems to lock at the same distance as Zephyr)... but is there any difference in flares resistance? Damage? Etc. Thanks.

I guess they are both the same. Would fit with the copy paste theme...

Well Asraam should be the medium range radar guided missile as it's based on the AIM-120 Amraam, while Zephyr for closer range heat seeking which of course ArmA does not simulate as far as I'm aware. But if those configs are current it's kinda useless to have both lol

ASRAAM stands for Advanced Short Range Anti Air Missile. So it should be for short range engagements whereas in my opinion the Zephyr should be a medium range missile for Beyond Visual Range engagements. As it is now there is really no point in having 2 different missiles.

There is. I tested it. The Short range missile loses lock about 2.5 km away, the Zephyr extends that range to about 10.5 km

See? I knew it.

That config dump is just completely wrong... You cant rely on six for everything, and don't believe everything you read on the forums... You have an ingame viewer that will show you all you need to know:

Oh OK, thank you for correcting me, my apologies to BIS.

(I really have to check out that Config viewer)

We still need visual different turrets.. that's more important to me at the moment than different types of missile.
