kayhase 10 Posted September 4, 2013 I think RV4 is really cool already, but there's one thing i look into. ArmA 3 LOD Models transitions are quite stiff. Is there any chance to improve Real Virtuality 4 engine to run the LOD Models transition visually more smoother(softer) like Grass, trees ATOC we already have? Unreal Engine 3 does really good job at LOD Transitions. I think it wasn't hard for RV4 too, maybe through the post-process effect, but I dunno. :butbut:
suprememodder 11 Posted September 4, 2013 there's no trick to smoother transitions. you just need to make the first 3 lods similar, but arma 3 can't really do this since the first lod is really complex. the second and third naturally take a drastic dip in quality. in games that use engines like ue 3, the first lod is already optimized so the changes aren't noticeable. i wish arma 3 objects were more optimized. i mean i saw some lamp post with individually modeled nuts and bolts on the base. not really necessary tbh. thx1137 10 Posted September 4, 2013 The OBJECTS setting seems to affect the LOD transitions. I had terrible LOD popping until I set it to VERY HIGH.
Leon86 13 Posted September 5, 2013 yeah, depends on settings.
Bouben 3 Posted September 7, 2013 I think it is much smoother than in A2. Even when zooming in on medium details.
