Small suggestion about persistency

Recommended Posts

Hello,

just bought early access today and got into third mission with first rover. I saw all my previous probes on surface and its debris from heat shield. Just in moment I abandoned previous probes it disappeared in too and all its debris. It ill be nice to leave all intact in 3d even after abandoning it. You cant connect to it anymore but remants will be still in 3d. I know its small, just at least for me it adds nice immersion detail. Also I saw no drain level yet. Just charge. Maybe its not yet implemented. I expected some drain from comms and switched on cameras and stuff. Beside that looks like super game! cant wait for final version. After Arma 2 this seems like my best spent 250CZK in last years of gaming.

Yeah I was thinking this the other day. I think the main reason they are Removed completely, is because the Rovers themselves have a ton of Parts, but it would be nice if a "Dummy" Rover could be modeled to replicate its looks only to take it's place.

Yes I understand, Well hope models uses LOD system so it should be not big problem also dead landers rovers will be usualy on different places to cause FPS probs. And it even can be optional in options - number of persistent debris like in Kerbal Space program. Not biggie. just as I said it will adds a lot of immersion to see your past missions.

Rest assured guys the plan is to actually transfer the parts to dummy objects that sink into the floor with time. That is, those parts which have some velocity will stay physicalized until rest, where they become static debris. Static debris will slowly sink into the ground, disappearing eventually. Though we didn't have time to do this yet.

Additionally, parts should gather dust. The technical aspects are there for this, just not yet utilized. Again, coming up soon.

Nice, sounds interesting. Probably abit early at the moment, but sometime soon in the future would it be possible to get like a Monthly DEV Blog explaining to us all what is currently being worked on for next Updates, and to be implemented in the future? And maybe even a short introduction from each of the DEVs on the Team. Would be much appreciated! =]

Something like this would be good. You're great at communicating but it's all over the place: here, Steam forums and the bug tracker. Small updates would be nice, maybe just weekly sticky post or something?
