petek 62 Posted August 9, 2013 Hi For the PIP gunsights is it possible to change the display? It seems for all currently they show only thermal image as a PIP - it doesn't alter based on what view you use when using the sight cheers
nodunit 397 Posted August 9, 2013 Change it how? Zoom? Nope, different page? Nope. Adjust thermals so that you can see something clearly other than people and vehicles? Nope.
petek 62 Posted August 9, 2013 So basically... nope;-) I meant that it would toggle between the various viewing modes that the sight has built in (normal, thermal, NV)
nodunit 397 Posted August 9, 2013 (edited) Ah, then nope. The mode you get is the mode you're stuck with, thus far they haven't made any public changes that would allow you to use PIP as though it were a the actual optics with zoom or at least three stepped zoom and camera modes. Shame too since so many vehicles are using it and it would benefit them greatly in terms of scouting (strider perfect example). petek 62 Posted August 9, 2013 Cheers NodUnit - I thought it would be a cool little feature too... ah well
EvEnLeaSe44 0 Posted August 10, 2013 Honestly, they should rework the camera view when in the gunners seat... take away the 'Optic' ability... and force the gunner JUST to use PIP. But I know some users machines can't handle PiP so probably not possible. Oh well.
nodunit 397 Posted August 10, 2013 (edited) Very bad idea and not just due to performance issues. PIP optic= one filter, one zoom level, no symbology 0 key optic= Day,NVG, FLIR, symbology, can see the decontrasted environment a bit better, and adjustable zoom. They would obviously have to rework PiP monitors in vehicles to include the filters, zoom, and everything else. It would match the real life counter-parts. More realism, the better immersion.
