First of all, i'd really appreciate it if there isn't going to come any flaming outta this, this is my opinion and that's just the way it is. I'm not flaming on the countries so don't feel offended.

Ok, here it goes, the person i can't stand is Bush. I know, i know, everyone'll say that i'm starting a flamewar and that i hate america, well all of that is bs. As far as i know i have the right to say my opinion, right?

Why i don't like him? In my eyes it looks like he only cares about wars, he just wants to fight other countries. He doesn't care about nature at all. Every excuse for starting a fight is good for him.

Don't start this!    Maggie was responding to aggression, she didn't start the war. Britain was NOT ruined by Thatcher. Infact Britain was made many times stronger than when she took office.

Paratrooper I dont really know if what you are saying is correct! Dont forget that during this time Germany was extremely profiting from the world economic boom and boosted it GDP. Furthermore did it establish european wide boundaries with other nations. THe UK had the same preconditions but did not make use of them. Thatcher was overproud, arrogant and too conservative. One thing I remember is that during the discussion whether european leaders would accept the reunification of Germany, Thatcher was holding a map in her hands of Germany before WWI and said: I see, that is what they want to get back, dont they?"

THis is the disadvantage of backward thinking! I hav no problems that she had problems with Germany but instead she could have used the time to step from her British throne of arrogance and start restructuring your primary sector industries! How long did it take to get rid of your coal mining industries. Well those un-lucrative mines existed longer than she was in power.

Thatcher rid the country of the strangulating grip of over-powerful unions, without her ridding us of state industry we would not have the economy of today, it wasn't just a europe-wide boom, reform was desperatly needed!

As for the Germany bit, she was against comunist dictatorships, so I doubt she had a problem with German re-unification. She did have a problem with the EU scrambling for power, she called it the Belgian Empire!

As for developing our industries, no one person has done as much for our economic well being.
