Guest Melone Posted July 13, 2013 (edited) Hi, when I turn my character left or right slowly in multiplayer I notice a frame drop / lag each second. Is there a chance to get rid of this? Seems that there is a problem with the concurrent multithreading in the game? There are no programs in the background running during the game. I dont have the problem in arma2/dayz! I think my rig is ok cpu i7 3930k @ 3,8ghz gpu hd7970 oc ram 16 gb ram quadchannel board asus p9x79 ws 40 - 60 fps in ultra settings, but with the annoying lags Any chance? Guest Melone Posted July 14, 2013 Hi, it was a problem with the server setting. I tested it on another sandbox wasteland server. No problem any more. Normally I play on the same server to meet same people. I ve never understand why the developer give server admins the opportunity to affect client fps. tonygrunt 10 Posted July 14, 2013 Hi, it was a problem with the server setting. I tested it on another sandbox wasteland server. No problem any more. Normally I play on the same server to meet same people. I ve never understand why the developer give server admins the opportunity to affect client fps. Client FPS has always been affected by the performance of the server/mission (CPU performance, available bandwidth, mission scripts performance) and sometimes even from other clients that are connected to the server. Just a couple of days ago, I was playing an ArmA2OA MP mission, something went wrong with the server/mission and everyone's FPS dropped below 1.
thr0tt 12 Posted July 14, 2013 Try the new switch -nologs and see if that effects your drops.
Guest Melone Posted July 14, 2013 Now the problem exist again on the server I usually connect to. In the following screenshot I marked the server with estimated lag frequence in seconds. http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/1811/k6f.png (788 kB)
thr0tt 12 Posted July 15, 2013 Have you checked RPT file ?
Noblelaner 10 Posted July 15, 2013 For me this only happens in some missions I downloaded. Have I installed them right?
Guest Melone Posted July 15, 2013 It must be a server setting, because today I didnt get lags frequently on one of the server I got the lags yesterday. There are two rpt files for this two sessions and in the last one are the same type of messages as in the preceding file. The text files are quite big, 7MB for yesterday and 2 MB for today. Today I could even fly a heli without lags (it all looks great, would be cool to get changing weather conditions (cloudy, rainy, sunny), maybe sometime a strom with big waves at the beach ? ;-)
OrLoK 20 Posted July 15, 2013 Hello there Different servers *and* missions will give different performance. The trick is to find a sever and mission type which suits both you and your machine. Try and keep that ping as low as poss as that will help a bit. Rgds LoK

Guest Melone Posted July 15, 2013 Hi, I dont think that the logging thread is the only reason for the stuttering if at all. I ve got an hw controller with write cache enabled that should handle it fine (3ware SAS 9750-4i). But I startet the game with the -nolog parameter though. Today I find out an example, how to activate the frequent stuttering in the game. I was at the basketball field in agia marina (stratis map) at the fence (short side) facing the radar mast. Then I had to prone a few meters towards the radar mast next to a tree to get into shadow because of other players. And there it was again the "one second stutter". I could see it by making a left/right turn slowly. And I could stop it by just standing up! This was repeatable by proning at the same location and standing up again. Guest Melone Posted July 16, 2013 Another example is, when you drive a vehicle from south to the north, you might notice stutter each 2-3 seconds and that there are sectors on the roads without any stutter. Is it possible that this has something to do with the radar system?

Try reproducing the problem with the editor, if you can make a mission and upload it to the issue tracker I'm sure the developers would be very appreciative. galzohar 31 Posted July 23, 2013 In my experience stutters are mostly from HDD action and/or heavy processing that happens suddenly, such as new objects created by createVehicle or new LODs being loaded by zooming/sighting in and/or moving quickly across the terrain. Of course this won't always happen as sometimes the processing will be fast enough to not be noticed, depending on what/how many objects are processed. Guest Melone Posted July 23, 2013 In the last 2 days I played wasteland on the server "wasteland sandbox - #uk3 & #uk4", mostly flying with heli or driving with hmg. The stutter of 2 seconds occur once again yesterday, but after a server restart it was gone. I think it has also something to do with the interaction between server and client, depending on what other players are doing during the session. I dont mean the stutter that occur all of sudden when something must be loaded into memory. I could imagine that there is running a special thread, that can be activated somehow by actions of other players, and the thread for the graphic output can only run when this "special" thread sleeps for 2 seconds. The wakeup or whatever is started in this special thread blocks the other thread for a few millisecond. But today I had no problems in a 6 hour session. It was a good session with a lot of fun :-)
