Home again!

Recommended Posts

Hey all, nice to be back at the forum again. I got leave time off base for the weekend, so here I am. So..... what's new at the forums here? Any changes? Has wobble become a mod yet? biggrin.gif Any big news regarding OFP that I missed?

Nice to see some old and new names around, how was Resistance (tell me about it but don't spoil it, I haven't gotten it yet. smile.gif )

Well, it's nice to be back home, I have my own shower, bathroom, and bed, at least for the weekend anyway.

Tyler

P.S., forgive any typing mistakes, I havent come within 100m of any computer for over a month.

I agree smile.gif , thanks.

Well, if anyone was curious, my summer has been going pretty well. I got some range time with various weapons that we have to qualify on every year and some that we use once in a while, such as the 84mm Carl Gustav, the M67 Frag Grenade, C7A1, C9 LMG (FN Minimi), and the C6 GPMG (FN MAG), I have shot those in the past little while. Next up this week is the 60mm Mortar and the M203 grenade launcher.

I scored a 79 out of 80 on the personal rifle test, which qualifies me as a 'marksman', so I get this cool little badge to wear on my dress uniform. Shooting a C7 from the hip on full auto with live ammo is a blast.  biggrin.gif.  Even better was getting to use a full bore 84mm TP RAP round for the Carl Gustav for the first time, firing that thing is like getting a kick in the chest from an elephant, OFP can't even compete for realism here.

Aside from the heat, Racoons (I like to call them 'Man-coons' ) are a constant problem in the base, they are big and fat and have no fear of humans. More than once I have had to chase them out of my tent. Two nights ago, some of them snuck into our tent and started fighting for food as we slept. Last month, a platoon mate of mine awoke to one knawing on his toes. They just won't go away no matter how many times we boot them in the ass.  biggrin.gif

So, how has everyone's summer been so far?

Not too bad smile.gif You only missed like a week of Resistance because no one bloody had it for ages.

Sounds like you are having fun, other than the wildlife. Arent you allowed to do some life fire practice on moving rodents? biggrin.gif

Things are pretty tame around here.

Holy Sh*t!, Warin, they made you a mod too?, LOL. So, it looks like I have missed a few things lately. Anyways...

Really? I bet all the Euro-peons got it first, and we had to wait, right? Was a reason given for the shipping problems? I would check the resistance forum, but I don't want anything from the game spoiled.

And wake up the whole base?, lol, besides, I'm not that cruel, unlike wobble wink.gif *remembers dead racoon pics that wobble posted*

Actually, another platoon found a Racoon in their tent lines, so they beat it to death with their rifles. The people who beat it were promptly charged by the MP's and for a good reason. That kind of thing isn't allowed, all animals are protected on base. A good boot in the ass is as far as I go. As much as a pest as they are, I could never kill one.

Ah, whats the world coming to when you can't beat a racoon with a rifle butt.

I guess different armies have different rules regarding pest control. Reminds me of a friend of mine who served in GSFG - their squad used to go out hunting bunnies on a BTR with a 14.5mm heavy machine gun. wink.gif

I have to agree that beating a raccoon to death with a rifle butt is pretty stupid, though.

LOL, I see you found the pleasure of using firearms. In a safe manner of course. Stick with it.

Next, I recommend taking an M-16 and firing it on full auto from the hip at a target 25m away, wait, you can only do that in the Army (or Arizona?), legally. biggrin.gif

Lots O' Fun indeed.

LOL, yeah, just keep with it, you can only get better with time and practice. I had to practice alot to become a good shot with a rifle, I also read a bit of literature on shooting positions and techniques as well...... nah, who am I kidding, I was good from the start. tounge.gifbiggrin.giftounge.gif

I'll see all of you in 3 weeks time. Until then, have a good summer guys.

Back to base I go.
