Oh no Ran, now I will have this image of you in my head chasing after some beauiful lady with a stereotypical french accent I live in a city where we get a lot of tourists on a rail tour of the Rockies, and the majority of the passengers are Europeans. Other than being deadly sick of trying to explain why their phones dont work, I find they are all pretty polite. I can say that other than this one German fellow who didnt speak more than five words of english, it's been good Heh..eventaully I showed him a map and said 'all mountains, no people' and he must have gotten then why his damn phone didnt work
Paratrooper 0 Posted August 2, 2002 The reason the British tourists are thought to be so bad is that you are looking at the wrong kind of people. The British headonistic lout can now afford to go on holiday abroad in large numbers. If you look at British people abroad away from the 'pleaseure islands' they go to you will see a different kind of person.
Placebo 29 Posted August 3, 2002 It's wrong to say that British tourist's are bad tourists, it's more the English who're bad, as has been mentioned above, Scot's, Welsh & Irish seem more than capable of going abroad and behaving decently, unfortunately we English are still burdened by a minority of the English lager-lout-football-hooligan type who let the side down. All I can say as an Englishman is that when I go abroad I feel honoured to be in someone else's country and treat it with the utmost respect and decency
bn880 5 Posted August 3, 2002 Thanks to all of you. I finally got to read a thread where there are lots of interesting information and opinions, without any flames, or threats of thread closure. Albert, when it comes to tourists you have it covered... I'm just impressed. On that note I will not add any info on tourism, knowing me it might turn into a flame war, and that would be a shame. But a father doenst take care of his children. Usually they come with the entire family and the children get totally burned or they were full-body sunblockers if mom is not around. And usually the father refuses to relax and constantly asks for faxes and the business-centre. lol Please forgive me that but the little children that talk oxford sound so grown-up, too civilised, especially the girls then talk like litte grandmas. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 3, 2002 And in sunny areas you especially like to rent motor-cycles or cars. It seems obligatory to old colonial (not in a bad sense) english/brits to check out the terrain.

What the hell? I like the germans, don't get me wrong, as long as they stay in their own country. Â Having spent four hours in a bus with a bunch of germans yelling like crazy at each other, I was ready to be committed to an insane asylum. I like tourists who are quiet, like the japanese. It fits our finnish culture. We are very quiet people, so we don't like it when those foreigners come here and yell. Otherwise you're all welcome (just be quiet). A funny joke springs to mind. My friend once heard some germans wondering loudly in Lapland: "I wonder why all the buildings are brand new?" So my friend went over there and said: "Because you burned the old ones..." Â <span id='postcolor'> I must say i like japanese ppl individually and have quite a few as friends, but when you visit your favourite surfing place/city/spot only to see a street full of japanese tourists is bit much. Maybe they should stop sending so many of them. (eg. gold coast. Then again, this means nothing to this international forum). So yes, japanese are very nice quite ppl, but when there is a whole crowded pathway full of them, it is hard for it to be quite.

There are some really nice english ppl out there but this is absolutely ruined by as plecbo would say "lager-lout-football-hooligan". My father after enduring their antics for most of the flight got up to deal with them and was cheered by the rest of the plane when he sat down. He promptly received 1st class treatment by stewards. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 3, 2002 no island has ever resisted a german-tourist invasion! Too many, too heavy, too demanding, too stingy, too much money involved.... You defense-lines will fall. Every july millions of tourists attack with consistent supply of fresh recruits that substitute those that leave. No chance. The royal troops cant beat the facts! they even overrun your well organised colonial troops and the experienced Generals.
