Evolution 0 Posted August 2, 2002 I never really played CS, but i loved DoD. I dont play OFP onilne seeing as i only have a 56k, and have a mutual respect for the people who want to play a game without me lagging them up. Delta force 2 can be a laugh these days. graphics are still pants, and its full of cheats, but it adds to the fun. nothing more satisfying than killing a speed cheater with a pistol or knife. Sniper hunting is also a favourite past time for me on DF2, and land warrior. Knifing them of course adds insult to injury. BF1942 sounds too good to be true. I havnt yet played the demo, but have heard lots of stories about bugs. mind you its still in beta days, and i will still of course have it pre-ordered. xmurderx 0 Posted August 2, 2002 cs is so terrible, all the bunny hoping? oh yeah thats realistic. dod on the other hand is simply amazing, its one of the funnest online games Ive played. from throwing the granades to hearing the enemy's garand clip go off, this is really a terriffic game. most servers catch cheats right at the start and the maps are done very nicly. even for the game runing on the hl engine it looks good and runs smooth on a 56k modem. I do on occassions play ofp online, but not alot of servers out there

Ruud van Nistelrooy 0 Posted August 2, 2002 I like counterstrike, a lot, i've been playing it for ages and ages. Its all too easy for people to say its naff based on the fact every time they enter a public server they get raped. Of course, as is the case with roughly 96% of all people who say cs sucks because of cheaters, they'd rather blame their crapness on cheaters (lets remember the ratio of sad people who think all cs players are cheats to actual cs cheaters is about 273:1). If everyone actually played the game for a while and got fairly good at it, then it'd be a great game. As it stands, cs has way more talented players than say, opf because theres people who play it all day, or have played it for years and years, or indeed cheat, therefore if you go in public servers y6ou get raped. In that case use uk2 servers, they're good for beginners i find. The big problem cs has right now is n00b's go on and have a quick game, get completly raped, and then those n00bs hate the game forever and go around bad mouthing it. I'm pretty sure if any of you were playing opf and got totally owned for about 10 games in a row you'd all stop playing it and blame it all on cheaters. for shame. Everytime i'm in a server and i suspect cheating, i just join that guys team or leave the server
Guest Posted August 2, 2002 I havn't played counterstrike, but I have played TacticalOps quite a bit, which is basically the same thing. First the problem with TO and CS are that they attract immature kids whose primary objective is to show off how cool they are. The game would perhaps have more appeal to me if they disabeled the chat functions. Second, there is a lot of cheating. With a lot I mean perhaps one every five or ten games. You can see it very easy, when they shoot you from their back. TO & CS are both Aimbot infested. The majority of the players do not cheat, but there is a minority that does and that minority is enough to spoil the game. Third there is a lot of TK:ing which just as cheating spoils the game. Also, most people don't TK, but the minority that does sabotages the game.
Ruud van Nistelrooy 0 Posted August 2, 2002 i for one find tk'rs to add a unique element to the game. They piss me off immensely, and if anyone tk's me without apoligizing i'll tk them. When you spawn its kind of like a rush to find the tk'r before he tk's everyone, especially in dod para maps, everyone starts looking for the tk'r and as soon as possible he gets lit up by like 8 guys, lol. These games are fun if you can take the bad elements and bring some fun out of them, even cheaters can be fun because if you kill them just once you can rip the piss outta them for ages, or indeed just tk them, which is great fun if you're in a tk slay server because they'll die every round (and miss a few as well) and will probably just leave after a while. IceFire 0 Posted August 2, 2002 I used to play CS ALOT a few years ago, and I was damn good at it. But I stopped when I lost my CD like 2 years ago. But its ok, cause there werent so many cheaters then, I suppose. I dont know now. But this brings me to an interesting point. I remember a game where we were the Ts. There was this one guy on our team who kept TKing. I finally got sick of it and started arguing with him. I told him that I could whip him easily, and he was like "no you cant" So I challenged him to a duel. At the beginning of the next round, I kill him, or he kills me. That will prove who is best. He agreed. Everyone else said, "Lets kick him". But I said no, give me this one chance to prove to this guy. So everyone said "OK, fine, We'll watch" So now the pressure was on, I had to beat him. We all would start off in a really dark boiler room close to the hostages in the Arab map, not dust. The next round started, and there was a mad dash between me and him to find eachother since the room was fairly dark, and with many things in it that could impair our vision. It was hard to tell who he was because most of us looked the same. But most of the other guys were looking around to see where we were, so that they could see what would happen. And then I spotted him in a corner behind a metal beam, seaching around frantically. (Thats how I spotted him, his behaviour, I could tell he was looking for me too) He didnt see me running at him since I intentionally ran at him from the side. He spotted one of the other guys and thought that it was me, and he blew him away. Just after that, I got in range and blew him away! Everyone cheered and were like, "Good work Ice", and were like "Can we kick him now?". And I was like "Yeah, go ahead, Im done" But the guy quit before we could kick him. Probably embarrassed. It was great though. One guy actually said "That was a good thing you did Ice".
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 2, 2002 I remember times when we challenged each other by playing "all around the world" basketball and soccer against the garage. I guess those times are over. Nowadays the younger ones decide an alpha-creature by gaming performance. That is pretty whimpy!
IceFire 0 Posted August 2, 2002 Dont worry. The percentage of kids who are serious gamers is still small compared to the normal ones who actually go out and play sports. I'd say in an average school classroom, out of 15 boys, most of the boys play real sports, and maybe like 5 would be into video games. It's just all the hard core video gamers who think that there are alot of people who are into computer games and video games because they dont assosiate with other types of kids. But the average kid goes out, plays baseball with his friends, and then returns home to his N64 to relax.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted August 2, 2002 How predictable. The CS player with the completely worn out, "Im not a haxor, you just suxor". In my day, I did my fair share of kicking ass, and I am alright with getting beaten by someone better than me, but watching a guy run around with all headshots and a 20 to 1 ratio, surely the wheels in your head must be turning. And that wasnt rare, it happened in almost every single server I joined. Wake up, and realise that CS is a simple minded game played by simple minded people

Wake up, and realise that CS is a simple minded game played by simple minded people<span id='postcolor'> I think I am not too bad either. I mean I started with the Doom and followed the Ego-shooter evolution since then. Okay I am not playing night and day but during the last months more than ever. It is just not possible that someone gets rations 20-1, that is simply not possible. Being better than 20 other players is okay, but not beating 18 players with only 10% health left. Especially since nowadays there are only a few beginners left on the net. We all know how to play and so it is actually hard find and surprise 20 weak players without encountering another pro. I think too, there are lots of cheaters out there. And I hate cheaters! May it be 20-1 or less, I got a sense for what shot is unrealistic and which hiding place noone should expect. If someone surprises me in this hiding-place (on a new map) with a head-shot, then it must be a damm cheater!

Rhubarbman 0 Posted August 2, 2002 HL multiplayer will last longer than Opflash multiplayer, and i been playing CS after for a bit and there are hardly any cheats with valves new anti-cheat software, but i find DoD a far superior mod as i play on most Jolt servers especially the 32 uber server but i usually Play on the TFS Teamplay server, on this server we completed 5 objectives on one map in 2 minutes while only loosing 2 or 3 men, also we pwned the beach map as allies winning the map about 4 times in 45 minutes, so far i have had poor time playing opflash 1st Res dont support ASE and for about 3 days nobody was playing opflash online so i have given up.
