hugotheholder 10 Posted June 24, 2013 Hi, I'm new to the Arma/Bohemia Int. forums (although I've played the Arma series for quite some time), and I've had a really annoying issue with most of the Arma games, (OA, 2, 3), it has to do with the movement of the Character/Character models, around and through structures/ buildings, for example: A character will be walking into a house, there seems to be a glitch when trying to even enter the building because it will just get you stuck on the door frame at certain points. When aiming through windows your gun can glitch through the wall, and generally you can get stuck in the walls themselves when inside the buildings (also going as far as being glitched outside of the building/ off the roof of a watch tower/cell tower), as well as the movement/camera inside the buildings just being choppy, and jittery. I understand Arma 3 is still in Alpha and about to be in Beta, but even so, does anyone know (or guess, based off Bohemia int.'s updates/improvements in the past) if the movement in buildings will be as fluid as any other game/sim, such as: Battlefield 3 (I know not a sim), etc. Thanks -hugotheholder
RuecanOnRails 10 Posted June 24, 2013 If you lower your weapon when walking in doors you can move around a lot easier. The weapon is bulky and usually out infront of your character. An easy play to get stuck on walls or windows. There is a rifle collision addon that was made a while back it might be worth checking out. It will automatically lower your weapon if it collides with a wall or other obstruction allowing you more freedom to move around. Then when you are in an open area automatically raise your weapon. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=18796
chortles 263 Posted June 24, 2013 The problem with that addon, although its underlying principle is sound, is that it seems to simply automatically trigger the raise/lower weapon actions and animations when collision is detected, which isn't as smooth as is possible in real life. RuecanOnRails 10 Posted June 24, 2013 doors could be bigger to be honest I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the doors are to scale. Carrying all that bulky equipment and running around through small hallways shouldn't be easy.
wormeaten 0 Posted June 25, 2013 I really don't know why people don't put garage doors instead of ordinary entrance doors on Houses? This is no big issue at all and definitely is not worse than it is in other games. There is some mods who fix this issue in realistic way, I think its made by Norrin. This is realistic problem because you could not entering building with raised rifle just like that.
Wolfstriked 11 Posted June 25, 2013 Its worlds better than Arma2.Just learn how to enter better and not do the things that will make you glitch into the walls and it feels really good.
Baraz 10 Posted September 10, 2017 Four years later... I feel it's an issue in small house doors (the military compounds doors are less tight). I cannot peak outside the door or exit/re-enter quickly to see what is going on outside or to attack quickly. I can use the freelook cam to try and see and then hope I can exit quickly without glitching while enemy shoots me down. Ideally remove some collision on door frames.
