EvenLease 11 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) So, I'm bringing this up because well... I'm kind of sick of my gear auto retracting or deploying on its own. This screen shot was a LOT harder to achieve due to this, going slow enough or low enough and your gear will automatically deploy. Trying to hover just over a tree line to scout the area and engage targets without making your self a bigger target? Well... get ready to have your gear deploy. I'm hoping to see a option in the settings, that you can turn on that will relinquish all gear control to the player... deploying and retracting. http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=10006 Ticket Posted! EvenLease 11 Posted June 23, 2013 Is there anything else someone would like more control over? Landing gear is a big one for me...
Sneakson 1 Posted June 23, 2013 Landing gear makes you that much of a bigger target?
nodunit 397 Posted June 23, 2013 Well its a mix, retractable landing gear gives less surface area and drag, a bit more ground clearance but above all else in the comanche's case, or at least the real variant, a smaller return on radar signature. This is why most helicopters that don't care about radar signature that much or aren't built to fly really fast (such as the Mi-24) have gear that are always out. I'd like to control my landing gear, but then I'm a wierdo that likes to do things with my helicopter, and little details like that make the piloting job feel more involving. Yeah, involvement is nice. Since you could control landing gear at least in jets in ARMA2 it will probably be possible here too.
EDcase 87 Posted June 23, 2013 Yeah, it was a kind of nooby addition in ARMA2 to have them auto activate. Should be manual. Make a ticket and we will vote ;)

bent_arrow 1 Posted June 24, 2013 While I totally agree that we need to have manual control I really don't think the landing gear deployed makes you a bigger visual target :j: Perhaps in the case of the Comanche and Ghosthawk you might change the radar signature i little but even with that I think you're grasping at straws a bit there.
