promethius 0 Posted July 30, 2002 I am running an athlon 1800+, 256mb DDR, with a 32mbTNT2 (I know, i know....get a better card...blah blah) I tried all of the different types of graphics settings, and OF seemed to run best on glide......? But my card doesn't support glide!? I then updated to ver 1.2, and when I start up OF, an error message comes up saying that some file is missing and so it can not be run in glide. It then starts up normally and runs quite badly (quite jumpy)......what the hell is going on here? Can any one help??
Deus Ex 0 Posted July 30, 2002 My bro is using Voodoo4 PCI, the only way he can play his game smoothly on his 400Mhz, 128MB, is with his settings to Glide. Of course I updated his video card, I recommend that. Other then that... lol <... I suggest getting a new card which you are planning on doing
Mister Frag 0 Posted July 30, 2002 Don't use Glide unless you have a Glide emulator installed. My guess is that OFP is falling back to DirectX with software (non-hardware accelerated) rendering, which would explain the poor performance. Install DirectX 8.1b and the current Detonator drivers from NVIDIA's website, and then select Direct3D without HW T&L as the rendering engine in the Preferences program. BoonieRat 0 Posted July 31, 2002 I though the Glide option was put in there for people who had problems with DX. as a kinda last resort!. not as a 'valid' option, if you know what I mean...
ALDEGA 0 Posted July 31, 2002 No, Glide is only for videocards based on 3DFX's "Voodoo" chips.

Mister Frag 0 Posted August 6, 2002 Well, the OFP CD also contains the DirectX runtime components. They aren't the latest, but good enough to play OFP with, so you may want to install those instead of downloading the latest version from Microsoft.
