lucable 10 Posted June 8, 2013 Hello all, I know this topic has been done before but it's outdated. I was wondering besides using RAMDisk, and turning off PhysX Acceleration if there are any other know ways of increasing my FPS in ArmA 3 with my NVIDIA Geforce GT 620. Thanks in advance, Lucable
RuecanOnRails 10 Posted June 8, 2013 PhsysX is required for the game to run. However it's not the invasive power hungry PhysX that many assume. It's relatively light and works on the CPU ONLY. RAMDisk can increase performance assuming you have enough ram to cover all or a majority of the constantly read files. If you want to find out what files are being read, look into setting up process monitor to analyze 10 minutes of your normal gameplay then export the data to a spreadsheet to get total I/O's per file and set up your own personalized set up. You might be better off installing the game onto an SSD if you don't have the ram to spare. The performance gain will be fairly similar.
Rolling 1 Posted June 8, 2013 The ideal situation would be a better graphics card at least a 550ti or something. I would reccomend turning PIP to either low or off, that tends to be a hog on my FPS.

But if you play @ 1400/900 ,VD under 1500m, the rest at Med and PiP off you will have playable game.

Thanks for the responses, I have 16GB ram so that should be enough, right? The ideal situation would be a better graphics card at least a 550ti or something. I want to get a new graphics card, but I don't know how to install it so for me I think that would be a bad idea. Which sucks. Thanks again for the responses. The graphics card is actually one of the most easiest things to remove and install. The most important thing to do is find out if your PSU (Powersupply) Will be powerful enough to run it. My HD 7750, which is perfect for ArmA 3 runs well on a 500W PSU since the recommended PSU it requires is a 400W. As for the installation itself there are plenty of tutorials on youtube on how to do it. All you really have to do remove your case cover, then remove the screw which is holding your graphics card in place, pull it out and then just plug in your new graphics card and screw it along with the case. After that put in the CD with its drivers and then just simply install them in, but since you already got an NVIDIA card I don't think you'd even need to install any drivers. So there you go it's easy as that.
