Extremely laggy mouse and gamepad controls

Oh I am SOOO annoyed.

I watched a few videos on YouTube of this game, before committing to a purchase. So I spent the better part of an hour, driving to the retailer and coming home.

The idea of the game is fantastic. FPS and RTS rolled into one. The gameplay videos looked enjoyable.

But oh my god. I want to smash my face with my own keyboard.

- Why are the mouse controls so terrible? The acceleration is ridiculous - A 2 centimeter swipe of my mouse (set to default) sends my cursor flying inaccurately across the screen. I could care less if you could turn it off, but you can't.

- It's unbelievably hard to navigate through the menus using this laggy mouse input. I just can't believe it.

- WHY CAN'T YOU CUSTOMIZE ANY OF THIS!? You can't even turn the acceleration off!!!!

I thought that maybe the game was developed primarily for console players. So I plugged in my gamepad to PC, and oh my god, what a nightmare.

- Is this game Doom 2.0.0056, released in 1994? There's no such thing as diagonal movement, it's practically look up, look down, turn left, turn right. I just can't believe it, I really can't.

Does anyone know of any fixes to this? Be it mods, editing etc.. Because this is just doing my head in. I updated it to the latest version, thinking that they'd incorporate such settings later, but sadly, no.

If this was a beta, I'd be understanding. But paying full retail price for this???

I have the same problem and only just about coping with it really! I've been told it's because the game has a built in mouse accelerator instead of just letting you use hardware acceleration. Putting your graphics to as low a setting as possible will alleviate it a little bit, if you haven't done that already.

I also thought they would have fixed this issue by now in a patch....but nope they're too busy adding water reflections and shiz.....

I'm just so baffled. Control input should be the first thing that's optimized in any game, but it's just being blatantly ignored.

It's so upsetting that food doesn't taste the same, colours are duller, sounds are muffled.. I'm exaggerating of course. But you get my point.

I don't know what's going on with your mouse/keyboard, but the only time I had problems was when the game was in early beta. Control for me now is pretty smooth now.

The acceleration has been a major problem for me as well, so much that I probably won't play the campaign again. It was almost a relief to get to the end of it, I couldn't stand it. You'll be pleased to hear that it isn't quite so bad in the strategy game, and that's where the real game is, not the campaign. The menu mouse pointer is very laggy as well, due to the animated background, but how often are you on the menu?

For many of us there is a delay between moving your mouse and seeing that movement on screen, making things difficult to control....

The theory is because the game uses it's own mouse acceleration instead of just letting you use hardware acceleration.

I still have this problem with v1.06011, is there any fix.

Hi,

I only seem to notice the issue when i knock up all the graphics to maximum. A couple tweaks in lowering some settings fixes it for me. I think it's quite a trial and error thing, give it a try, and see what works for your system.

Now the game runs perfectly fine on Win7 with i5 CPU and ATI 4870 graphics, with isn't the latest equipment available so I run pretty low graphic settings. BI has a tendency to allow graphics settings requiring hardware 25+ years in the future :j:

Just bought a newer spec PC running Windows 8, nVidia GTX660 and the game is working much better.;)
