TBC=Total Battle Casualties per 1000 troops engaged.<span id='postcolor'>

Well, yes, that is written under the table, but I am not sure about the meaning of the numbers. Is it just that they lost so many soldiers while engaging 1000 germans within an hour fighting for an area of 1km^2? Then I would ask how many soldiers they threw in the battle against those 1000 germans. Very confusing...

War and what happens in it can't be predicted on anything other than a strategic level.<span id='postcolor'>

Agreed, I don't think you can actually predict how long you could survive (unless you hide all the time). The only thing you can predict are statistics per 1000 troops etc.

No point in judging combat as a personal matter or as a fair competition, because it isn't.

being shelled is the worst feeling a grunt can get, someone shooting at you and you cant shoot back.  sad.gif

somehow used to combat, then the chances might be somehow good,

depending on the opponent, too, of course.

<span id='postcolor'>

you are absolutly right.

most chances are that had you survivesd the first contact you'll survive most.

although there are numerous factors in it, and luck is the biggest.

gimme an a .50 cal machinegun with attached rpg launcher, m203, flamethrower, poison ninja darts and a chainsaw and i'll DESTROY my enemy, enslave their children and listen to the lamentation of their women.

(maybe eat their children sounds better hehe, depends how hungry i would be at the time.)

Perhaps true, still training and person's character mean something.

Hell no, war isn't fair, but as I wrote, I wanted to hear your opinions

on this matter, and how do you personally feel about taking part in

a real combat.

Still quite many of us around here have served in the military.
