Preferences not saved

Recommended Posts

I've got a problem with the preferences program (both regular OFP and OFP:R), in that it does not remember my settings. I can set it up for one game, but if I exit OFP, the settings aren't saved for the next time I play, so I have to go through the preferences program again. Is there any way I can get the settings to be remembered?

I have this problem too. I'm not sure why this happens, but you'll have to manually change the settings in the Flashpoint.cfg using a text editor.

If you are comfortable using REGEDIT, I would make sure that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint\MAIN and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Codemasters\Flashpoint Resistance\MAIN point to the actual location of your installation. Also, make sure that the Flashpoint.cfg file isn't marked as read-only.

I've tried both of your suggestions, but no luck.  The cfg file isn't marked as read only, and all the registry entries point to the right location.  Any other ideas? confused.gif

Is it possible that the specific entry in question exists more than once in the .cfg file?

You may want to take a close look at the contents, I'm wondering if you keep editing an entry manually near the end of the file, while OFP finds another entry with the same name further up where you aren't looking.

Couldn't find my original topic. wow.gif

Anyways, the problem is still there.  Does anyone have any insight as to whats causing this and how it can be fixed?

It could be that OFP doesn't exit properly in your machine. Preferences never save if you change them, start a game and somehow manage to crash OFP. They seem to save only on exit.

edit: after having a look at your initial post I realized you meant the preferences-program! Not changing the ingame-preferences...

ZS have you tried deleting your config file completely and making a fresh new one in Opf Prefs?
