Recreating ArmA 2 Campaign Into OFP

Hello, as always, I don't know if this is the correct place for the question:

Is it legal/allowed to recreate the campaign from ArmA 2 into OFP? For example, put Chernarus into OFP, with different units but same missions from ArmA 2, would that be legal?

Only as long as you do not actually copy anything from ArmA2 directly. Recreating it all from scratch is perfectly legal ... and many months if not years of work ;)

Lets say everything will be different but the map Chernarus will be basically copy/pasted from ArmA 2 to OFP, would that still be legal?

Nope, you cannot port ArmA2 content (models, islands, textures, sounds etc.) to OFP.

I was thinking about something like this the other day, a kind of backwards-port (if you can call recreating everything by hand a port) of A2 and A1 to OFP/ARMA CWA. It's a pipe dream, obviously, but dreamers can dream right? :)
