Stianfred 10 Posted April 13, 2013 Hey guys, i've seen alot of these posts around arma 3 forums lately: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=1516 There are so many people thinking that TOH (take on helicopters) - Flight model "IS" going to "BE" implemented in the full arma 3 game. First of all, it is already implemented in Arma 3 Alpha, and has always been. Flight Model means the textures and the cockpit, and NOT the physics of aerodynamics. So to people who believe that Arma 3 flying is going to be more advanced aerodynamicly, you are wrong. Atleast not officially it will be, but it would be awesome if someone modded the TOH Aerodynamics into Arma 3. (perhaps future ace?) What do you guys think of more advanced flying physics in futere ACE (Advanced Combat Environment)
toiletguy 1 Posted April 13, 2013 Flight model is the aerodynamics for me. Else you or me might be wrong... Saying Flight Model is the aircraft model is the opposite really.
heruon 1 Posted April 13, 2013 Well, I really do think that Flight Model actually refers to how the helicopter behaves in flight, and not to texturing..
purepassion 22 Posted April 13, 2013 yeah toiletguy is absolutely right. When talking about the "Flightmodel", you're meaning the aerodynamic calculations etc which dictate how the aircraft behaves. To be more precise, it should be called Flight Dynamics Model (FDM). TOH uses the RotorLib FDM. There have been public talks about implementing it and the experienced HTR modder Fred offered is assistance
PTV-Jobo 820 Posted April 13, 2013 I think the term you're merely locking onto is "model". BIS knows the community has been generally craving changes to the actual flight model, so to assume BIS knowing this is trolling the community into thinking there will be flight improvements when in fact they merely mean pretty insides (which is no big deal, as many in the community are fully capable of delivering the same quality if not even more improved) is a bit silly in my humblest of opinions. There's even a game back from 2000 called Flight Model Simulator. Or for another example, JSBSim--an open source Flight Dynamics Model software, which quote: "models the flight dynamics of an aerospace vehicle." So as you can see, I think there's more to suggest possible improvements in flight handling than mere pretty insides. To say the community is flat out wrong is a bit foolish as the game is not even beta yet, so only time and BIS will tell exactly what and how things will go. If you have further flight model discussion, find one of the many existing flight model threads, thanks.
