liukang168 1 Posted April 6, 2013 My new model is falling into the ground as sound as it touched solid surface. When I place the unit into water it is fine, as long as it doesn't touch the ground. Any clue what the cause is? I created the unit from scratch, defined all lods, defined all body parts etc. lod1 - model with definitions View Pilot Shadow Volume Geometry LandContact (its empty) Hit-points and Fire Geometry. The model is larger then a regular human, could this be the cause?
liukang168 1 Posted April 6, 2013 Does landcontact need set points like a vehicle? I don't see any on other infantrie models.
John Spartan 89 Posted April 6, 2013 I would believe that land contact is the issue. Also make sure when creating land contact points if the contact surface is animated then these points must have correct names matching the animated selection structure. the other issue that might cause it - model.cfg. I am not that familiar with infantry model making, but I have seen that half of unit model is buried in ground if model.cfg is not done correct way.
Sealife 22 Posted April 6, 2013 Pictures tell a thousand words :) what exactly are you trying to do ?, This New model statement is very bold and says its the problem , is this model riggeed with skeleton and weighted same as the animations you are using ? steps for new character model are available in A3 add & mods discussions in stickies . your model wont use A3 animations if you havent rigged and weighted it exactly same as A3 skeleton and told it to use them cfgmoves by inheritance , you will need exacting model.fg as A3 character and config.cpp with good inheritance. Post a pic and lets see it :)
liukang168 1 Posted April 6, 2013 (edited) Removed due to the fact I reused an unlicensed model. Back to the topic: The missing marker in my landcontact was the reason for the model not to get in touch with the world. Sealife 22 Posted April 6, 2013 well done you made alot of progress there :), Advice , keep terminator model same proportions of the solider or it wont fit in vehicles etc and animations will work better too . maybe its simpler to use the A3 skeleton provided and shape its parts into more skeletal looking and use some textures than do all this tho ? keep up progress nice work
