kegetys 2 Posted July 19, 2002 Well, my learning lesson was: I sat at the car, started it, and started driving... going very slow at first, but soon I was rallying pretty fast at the forests of our summer place my dad was sitting next to me but he didnt need to instruct anything else than the startup heh. Traffic regulations are a totally different matter thou, I dont know shit about those
Renagade 0 Posted July 19, 2002 In the UK u have to take a theory test as well as the practical side of driving. So u get the driving lessons plus the ones about how road system works.
kegetys 2 Posted July 19, 2002 In here you have to do lots of theory tests, driving tests, etc. to get a license (to legally drive in the traffic). I havent done that cause I dont need a license and it costs so much
ralphwiggum 6 Posted July 19, 2002 In California, 16 is the minimum age for license(or permit as they call it for kids btw 16-18yr olds), and I got it after 18, when I didn't have to take 12hours(?) of behind-the-wheels training. I really didn't drive car frequently until last year, cuz most of the times I lived near campus and didn't need a car. One thing I can tell is that you are likely to get into accident during first 2 years of driving. just stay alert and reduce i to minimum. After that it becomes natural. EveronVetsAgainstTheWar 1 Posted July 19, 2002 In the commonwealth of Virginia you can get a permit (Drive with an adult) at 15 and a half (after a test). The schools give you the driving classwork class. At 16 and a half you can get your liscense after so many hours of behind the wheel, then a test at the DMV. Then you have restrictions on you, no more than 1 person in the car, driving cerfew, etc (No one follows that) However when you turn 18 you just go to the DMV take a test and get your liscence. Its all a huge hassle and I dont have my lisence. However my dad lives in Alabama where all you do is take a test so I might get my liscence this summer
billytran 0 Posted July 19, 2002 Driving is really easy after about a month or so of practice. The hard stuff is parallel parking, but it only takes an hour or so of practice to get right. Also, driving a stick is kind of tricky. First, you have to figure out where the clutch disengages. After that you have to figure out downshifting, which I had some trouble with. I get my real license in about three weeks, can't wait
cybrid 0 Posted July 19, 2002 I had alot of experience from computer driving sims. My parents always told me that its nothing like in real life and is irellevant. I gave them one hell of a surprise the first time I got behind the wheel. Thank-you Papyrus/Seirra for all of you help over the years!!!
Placebo 29 Posted July 19, 2002 I took about 9 lessons when I was 21, but then I met a girl and stopped taking lessons, I'm glad I stopped, I realise now I'll make a terrible driver and would end up killing either myself or someone else, so I doubt I'll ever drive again

jawk2 1 Posted July 19, 2002 I passed my driving licence in the french paratrooper, i was finally licencied as combat driver, and convoy corporal *the guy in the last car that must help the injuried and take all the bullet from aware ennemy * : Here's is the paratrooper technique for passing driving license Well we got theorical test, but only the easy (and the old one who matter for the train panel? )and we can do it several time to have it *really funny*. *20h of preparation* After u got the practical test: u drive in some course prepared with plot... learning to drive between the mark.. learning to park the car between two other.... well very easy *10 of preparation* And finally u are able to drive in the traffic, but u need to be operationnal to drive with your officier or sub-officer that ll give u the full military and civil driving license: That was very hard for me.... because there's an habit there: when the rookie driver do an error the guy next him hit him in the shoulder. And after some hit in the shoulder generally it's hard to turn with the car. During this period i ve done a lots lots of error. You know why guys, even with my lame knowledge of the theory for driving and the lots of error i ve done... i never got an accident *one but there was ice on the road* after 7 years of driving. *mass his shoulder... i remember well*
Duke_of_Ray 0 Posted July 19, 2002 I am 15 and my parents are teaching me to drive. Right now I feel very nervous when I am driving, but I hope to soon end my fears of driving.
PiNs_Da_Smoka 0 Posted July 19, 2002 Driving is the simplest thing in the world. I don't see how people have trouble with it. Now, try driving a stick. Learning that is a bitch. More like 1st gear is a bitch, after that its gravy. But once you get the hang of it, its pretty simple.

SKULLS_Viper 0 Posted July 20, 2002 Here it is!Even better! (p.s. i over compressed the picture in Paint shop pro 7 but the original was just like my first picture, but i bloody hit the wrong button ) It was a pain to make, cause the people running all over, and having to order them in the car, and shoot them, then get angelina into anthor car, and then i had to blow both cars up with a gernade.Well, thats my special effects

PiNs_Da_Smoka 0 Posted July 20, 2002 I'm guessing you are in Europe somewhere. Ya see, in America, most of us are fat lazy bastards, and can't be "arsed" to drive a stick. But the few of us actually have the skill to do it. P.S. I'm not bashing the US, i'm american, just making a joke before all you uber-patriots thrash me
kegetys 2 Posted July 20, 2002 Here pretty much all cars are manual too, automatic gears tend to be expensive and people who have then say that they are really horrible to use in wintertime when the stupid thing switches to higher gear when you are trying to get out of a snowpile and you need lotsa power... I never really have had any problems with changing gears either
jawk2 1 Posted July 20, 2002 u live in a land of mad ppl Kegs: i once visited with my school the Finland.... and to find out the french ppl in the street it was easy *it was in april*... just find ppl with very high jacket that still seems frozen. *and yes we did play soccer on an iced lake.... but i fell in a hole bad luck for me (got a photo if i find it i ll send it to you) *

But yeah, practice makes perfect. At the moment I'm driving an automatic, and it makes me feel lazy . But it's easier to drive an automatic in London, in a manual, your foot is constanly on the clutch.
