How are the mouse controls in Arma 3?

Recommended Posts

Pretty sure "negative acceleration" or turn rate cap is a realism feature. You can't do the typical first-person shooter light speed piruettes IRL, the centrifugal force would rip your arms off.

Turn it on, buttonhook in a room and try clear your corner in reasonable time. It's like your dragging a sack full of bricks then suddenly it speeds up. It's the problem of many over-under aim scenarios which make you rage. I always turn it off, it feels like I have reaction over my weapon.

I guess you are talking about mouse smoothing? I keep that off too. I got the idea that when people talk about negative acceleration is that they really meant the turn rate cap, which I have no issue with because it's silly that you should be able to do an instant 360 with a flick of the mouse.

Pulverizer, with my mouse set to 1800 dpi (it has 800 dpi, 1200 dpi, 1800 dpi and 2600 dpi) I find it impossible to pull off an instant 360 with a single flick of the mouse... any weapon, any terrain, any soldier, mouse acceleration and mouse smoothing both turned off, though I believe Vsync enabled.

The thing is, this is the first that we're seeing mouse controls anywhere near "fps standard" (a seemingly intentional design goal this time around) so it's seemingly difficult to compare... not least because some people's remarks that aiming deadzone fixes are seemingly a low-priority for the devs and the fact that it's disabled by default suggest that Arma 3 is also the first Arma game designed without aiming deadzone in mind.

I think this thread is about turn rate cap and everything is as it should be.

A few weeks ago I think it was somewhat bugged because I could turn around at any rate but only freelook at a locked rate but now it's the other way around as it should be. Very glad to see a game implement this.

Bunnyhopping pirouettes are just too much lol.

What still bothers me is that when zoomed in the mouse sensitivity is reduced. I hope this can be switched off once we get adjustable sensitivities. If we get them.

And hence the recoil when scoped in feels way worse when its just the mouse sensitivity.
