OPFOR camo variants

Recommended Posts

Put ingame via hidden selections. Images are really large, because downsizing and compression ruin the image.

Some Iranian camo (not necessarily 100 % accurate)

Have yet to figure out how to replace the helmet texture. I guess simply putting one on the ground and switching the .paa via hidden selection is the only way atm.

Looks much better than the original hex texture. Good work.

There´s got to be a way to do it with a config, but I´m confused by those. I´ve been working on a camo retex for the pilot suit, and I can only put it in via hiddenselections so far too.

I like these patterns, though. Iran right now has a ton of others, including ACU lookalikes and lizard patterns and the cool green-grey 6 colour chocolate chip lookalike you have. Maybe taking that, and using the colours from the hexacam (which works terrifically well, I´ve overlooked opfor soldiers in the bushes standing five meters from me) would make it look a treat? I could throw in some help with the shading, if that´s required.

Cheers

I'll try that out tomorrow (at work right now, hopefully I wont get spotted), shouldn't be that much of a hazzle. And I can send you the OPFOR .psd template I cooked up if you want. I'll put up a downsized preview tomorrow, because critique is cool.

Also: Has anyone checked if the OPFOR officer has an ingame model? If yes: Has someone already made a proper config for it? I'm planning on creating a template for that uniform aswell, so an answer to those questions would be neat:confused:.

I really like these textures!!! I don't know, it just seems weird that the Iranians would go out on a limb and invent something so totally balls-out different as the hex camo (especially given it's marginal effectiveness over conventional camo in macro/micropatterning). Some multicam coloured desert stuff like the 2nd option in the first post seems a bit more plausible to me. But obviously this is a personal thing. :)

::edit:: Now I just need to find a way to get rid of those wrist guards on the OPFOR and have them wear proper sleeves and they'd be perfect ::edit::

Iranian Officer does indeed have an ingame model. However, the first person view doesn't show hiddenSelections. There is one hiddenSelection called "camo".

People seem to like Tigerstripe, so

BLUFOR this time. I'll make some proper MARPAT for it, with the right scaling and stuff.

I don't want to put down your awesome work, but this is what I got when I asked Hyperstealth for permission to use their camos for reskinning.

Sorry, we have contracts with Video Game companies and do not allow skinning of our patterns unless the pattern is licensed for the game. For copyright issues on this see: http://www.hyperstealth.com/copyright/index.html
Question - I’ve seen your camouflage on characters in Video Games, where people have skinned (placed your patterns on) characters without your permission – is that a copyright violation if someone is using or offering these characters or images are provided to other users at no charge.

Answer - Yes that is considered copyright infringement even though no money has been made from using the pattern. If we pursued the matter, the courts can penalize the group or individual who are offering these characters and can even go after the end user. Once again damages and penalties owed to the defendant can be large even though there was no money was made by the offending person or groups.

Darn, that certainly ends that line of texturing.
