Arma 3 hard locking at night

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am having a strange issue with Arma 3. While playing at night if I don't have night vision on my computer hard locks within a few mins. I have done all of the normal diagnostics such as memtest, GPU stress testing, Prime95 stress testing, dxdiag, updated drivers, checked temperatures and nothing has shown any issues. It only happens when playing Arma 3 at night without night vision on. I play a ton of games and none of them are hard locking. I can play in day/dusk for an unlimited amount of time. It is literally once the sun goes down if I don't have night vision on the game causes my computer to hard lock within 2-5 mins. If I have night vision on it doesn't hard lock. Just night time without night vision on. Any ideas on what could be causing the system to hard lock or is it possible it is an issue with the Alpha?

System:

Intel core i5 3570k @ standard clock

Gigabyte UD4h mobo

4gb pc 1600 memory

MSI 6970 @ standard clock

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional

3 x 120gb OCZ Vertex 2 SSD's

1 x 2gb harddrive

Windows 7 Ultimate 64

Hi Freak312!

I looked around a bit regarding your GPU and found out that MSI Afterburner has been creating some problems in other games with freezing.

Do you have it installed and running? If so try to turn it of.

Have you tried to mix around with the settings to see if it makes any diffrence?

Changing resolution, quality, etc

Also!

Have you put in any start parameters?

Im sorry that i cant give you any answers to yor problem.

But maybe we can find out what it is!

I don't use MSI Afterburner. I was using -cpuCount=4, but it hard locks with that removed as well. I will have to mess around with settings to see if there is something causing it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi

Ok,

Try add -maxVRAM=2047

It shouldn't make a difference but you never know :)

I hope you find a solution!

Interesting problem.

Try starting in a ditch/valley and then gradually turning round to look at more object which you will have strategically placed around you. See if it is one particular object/texture that makes you freeze. Hopefully should be easy enough as you will be frozen in place looking at it. If you dont crash then move up the hill to increase view distance and see if that is the culprit.

I'm getting this problem too as well. But as soon as ArmA 3 released the free dlc "ArmA Reinforcements", I have been crashing only at night ever since it came out.

This is the Error message I'm getting "D3D Error - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED"

Plz don't say its a graphics problem, because I noticed some objects in the game are flickering and that I have the latest Laptop for windows 7.

(Not only that, but Arma 3 has been working before the Reinforcements dlc came out. :()

It's not really a DLC, but the DEVS put the DLC into one of the updates just after Altis came out.

BTW: I solved my problem, it turns out a lot of people are being mislead by their Graphics card mentioned in the forums here.

It turns out that it was all of the structures.pbo files that were corrupted during an update. Now Stratis and Altis at night is no longer crashing. ;)

Also, you don't have to re-download the whole game. If you see something flickering in the game before you crash, look through the .pbo files to see where the objects are stored.

After you've found the .pbo file/files you are suspicious of, you can delete it and verify the game cache (the files WILL be reacquired by Steam)

Regards,

RanWer
