Changing name that is displayed?

Just started up the game, went to Multiplayer, and my name appeared as Gaz, not sure where from, but i use that as my real name. Is it possible to change it to something else..?

The game grabs your Windows profile name I believe (whatever your account/loging display name is at windows startup/login/at the top of the start menu)

Copy and paste an existing profile and paste it

rename ...BlahBlah-Copy.Arma3AlphaProfile...to Whatever.Arma3AlphaProfile

this copies any key bindings and customised settings you have made to the default over to your new profile and you will be able to select your new profile in game

I cant change my profile name in arma 3, and yes I have tried to make a new profile, but it will still not let me change the name, and when I make a new profile it is called player 1 and when I start arma 3 the day after, it is not there anymore...

and i have seen that some people on youtube have a Arma 3 folder in documents, but I have not (it is maby because my documents are not on the same disk as windows and arma 3.

the only place I can find anything that maby have with the profiles to do is in arma 3 folder there it is 2 files called (my pc name) and (my pc name).vars

I realy need help to fix my problem!

ps. I did not make a new tread because I cant, and My english is not my first language and is bad, but I hope you understand me...

Maybe it's an issue with Windows UAC, that doesn't let Arma to create the needed folders and player profile config files on your hard drive. You could try to find the arma3.exe in your steamapps folder, right click the .exe and select "Run as administrator" and try to create new player profile then.

it do not work, and I can create new profiles, but cant edit the name and it is gone whwn I restart arma.

http://imgur.com/a/rT9Ls here you see that I have no arma 3 folder in documents and in the arma 3 folder in steam there are some files that is something to do with my profile... but my new profiles saves here as PLAYER%210 file but it do nnot show up in arma 3 after I chane closed the game and opened it. shuld I put this on the feedback tracker, because I think this is a broblem that are something to do with arma cant find my documents folder when my documents folder are not on the same hard drive as arma 3 anf windows.

you can se on the photos that it is no arma 3 folder in any of my two documents folders (I do not have english version of windows, I have Norwegian) and 2 files (Fabian and Fabian.vars) that have something to do with my standard profile.

and I say it one more time, sorry my english!

but for me It is saving thing I do on my first standard profile, and are saving showcases, but not new profiles and can not edit the new profiles name

That's because by default all Arma missions/mpmissions/saved/usersaved/profiles/gameConfig go to 'C:\Users\PCName\Documents\'

You probably need to launch the game with the -profiles parameter. For example:

-profiles=E:\Users\PCName\Documents\

Not necessarily. You should be able to add that parameter in Steam by right-clicking on Arma3 and selecting "properties".
