Dean 1 Posted March 17, 2013 A buddy of mine mentioned this idea and I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Adjusting stances has made Arma 3 a lot more realistic. If you want to avoid fire, you duck your head, right? If you've ever seen a movie with someone driving a car and someone is firing at them, what do they do? They duck their head down into the steering wheel to make a smaller target. I absolutely think this should be eventually implemented in the game. I'm not sure how many stances would be necessary. I think two is enough; regular stance, and adjust key + down to lower your head into the wheel. The advantage would be that you're a smaller target, and the obvious disadvantage being that you can't see the road as well. The only issue I can think of this would be third person view. Would people take advantage of it and constantly be in the lower stance to be a smaller target, but then drive in third person mode to see the road just as well? The solution to this could be to only be able to lower your stance in first person view, but then you're limiting your gameplay. It's a tricky situation. What do you guys think? Chocolate 1 Posted March 17, 2013 Most of the vehicles are armored/will be armored and you can't be shot out. (At least I have not seen beyond the civilian truck; which in reality rounds would go right through the doors) Then there are the helos which can only stop certain round sizes anyway, and you can't really shift down while piloting a helo. In short, maybe? Don't think you would find to much mileage for that addition.
metalcraze 290 Posted March 17, 2013 What's the point? Armored cars like we have now protect you from bullets anyway and unarmored / civilian cars won't even stop a pistol round going in through one door and exiting through the opposite.
wipman 1 Posted March 17, 2013 Hi, is common that bullets as the common 5.56 and 9mm ricochet on the cars glasses, depending on the angle of it and the vehicle speed; old cars as the Citroën D30, had a double plate (that's a pain to fix) capable of stop 9L rounds, there's Miterran to probe it... it also happens with old (70s & 80s) Land Rover Defender models; but the nowadays cars bodys have it hard to stop a 22. bullet, are mostly made out entirely of aluminium and plastic; the future don't seems to aim for better. Aside of that... is a human reaction to look for cover when they throw something at you, it also happens with the bullets, but sometimes it just don't work "that well". Fuse 1 Posted March 17, 2013 I just found out (quite by accident) that holding Ctrl and moving my mouse while in the AH-6 does pretty much what you're asking. I was playing alone so I don't know if it is properly modeled in 3rd person, and haven't checked the other vehicles yet.
