peeps 0 Posted July 15, 2002 i wasn't sure which forum to post this into but i think this one is probably best so here goes. can gmax files (.gmax) be imported into 3d studio max and if not is there another way to do this?
KTottE 0 Posted July 15, 2002 Well, there is the long way around. You'll need the tempest gamepack for GMAX, can be d/l:ed from the discreet webpage. Then you'll need Milkshape. Using the tempest gamepack, export your gmax model to md3. Using Milkshape to import the md3 model, re-save it as .3DS. Import that to 3D Studio MAX.

Eviscerator 0 Posted July 15, 2002 or look around for a .obj importer/exporter then export to .obj and then import that with 3ds max

NZXSHADOWS 0 Posted July 16, 2002 Well since you know gmax can not export model files then why bother.Your just going to make things harder on yourself.I would recommend you just use some other program.Just my opinon.
slik1985 0 Posted July 16, 2002 Forgive me if this is wrong, but ive been told that its possible to copy all the plugins from the Tempest folders and paste them into gMax's plugins folder, and this will let gMax export to .m3d? Â One its in .md3 format, then yes, as others have said, just use something like milkshape to convert that into .3ds for import to O2. Just tryed it and what do you know, it works! why doesnt someone just put the plugins from tempest of the net, and save you downloading the full program? Atleast it means you can uninstall tempest after if you dont want it cluttering up your computer --- Editeded ---
