Hosting MP turns on webcam

I've had this odd bug pop up.

Whenever I start to host an MP game it turns on my webcam. The only reason I noticed is that it has a blue light on top and I could see it turning on. It's an MS Lifecam Studio.

That's an interesting issue, maybe there's a feature in the works for some sort of voice comms or streaming.

Regardless I think it's time you stop gaming in the nude.. Also clean up that room just incase ;)

i'm pretty sure Arma doesn't watch you while you play. Check to make sure the game is not using your webcam's microphone for the VOIP, accessing either on my on webcam turns the light on.

I can confirm this. I have the same kind of webcam and it does indeed turn on when hosting MP games!

I guess the game takes advantage of your webcams microphone feature. I experienced the same thing happening in Dota 2. Nothing to be afraid of.

Hereby its not relevant for the game if you have an other device set as main recording device. ;)

I wasn't thinking it was anything malicious, though if it was broadcasting video it would probably come under the Psyc warfare field. :)

I was thinking that it might be picking it up as a mike even though I have a headset plugged in and it registers as the default input device.

I don't seem to be able to get voip working even with the webcam unplugged.
